The Striped Shirt | Men's Style Edit

My latest favourite menswear trend has to be the oversized striped shirt worn in a casual way. Stripes tend to be a way to elongate your body shape in a visual way to slim down your physique which is why so many guys wear vertical stripes as opposed to horizontal stripes. This trend has been going on for quite a few seasons although I'm certainly seeing more and more stripes hit the market. Thin stripes, thick stripes, multi-coloured stripes, chevron stripes are all styles that are out there right now.

I brought a pointed collar, monochrome, oversized shirt to wear in this style edit from ASOS. With monochrome stripes I think the best way to style it is to stick to the two colours, black and white. My skinny black jeans are from AG Jeans, black Chelsea boots are from Superdry, overcoat is from Antony Morato, jewellery from Alex Orso and finally sunglasses from Taylor Morris Eyewear.

I've spent a bit of time selecting my top picks for this menswear trend.

Outfit of the Week | Men's Style Edit | ASOS, Superdry, Serge Denimes

This week has been pretty awesome, I started off the week doing lots of fashion photoshoots with loads of new clothing that I've brought, so I've got some incredible Style Edits coming in the coming weeks. Tuesday evening was a dinner event to celebrate the launch of the new Mont Blanc fragrance attended by industry experts, press and social influencers all joined together for a tasty evening at the Ivy Market Grill in Covent Garden.

Wednesday night brought the launch of the new male grooming brand House 99 which was endorsed by the one and only David Beckham, who also attended the event and mingled for a couple of hours before heading off. Moving swiftly on to my Thursday where I had a meeting with one of my favourite brands of all time Boda Skins who are hosting a pop-up store just around the corner from Warren Street tube station. I managed to get my hands on one of their designer leather jackets which you do not understand how happy that makes me!

Male grooming and fragrance aside, I feel that 2018 is going to be the year of men's accessories with designer sunglasses and jewellery at the fore-front of this trend. Just look at brands such as Serge Denimes, Taylor Morris and Alex Orso who are pioneering this trend in men's fashion.

For my outfit of the week, I'm wearing an ASOS striped t-shirt layered with a checked wool blend jacket, black jeans and black Chelsea boots from Superdry. I've accessorised with a psir of H.F.S sunglasses by Taylor Morris, a Kartel watch, rings from Serge Denimes and a pendant chain from Alex Orso.

As always if you like the look, shop it by clicking on the images below.

Outfit of the Week | Men's Style Edit

Who else is struggling to get through January? I feel like I'm crawling through it, everything's an effort, procrastinating at every junction and I've even introduced afternoon naps into my daily routine! Today I'm going to change that and during my afternoon nap time, I'm now writing this blog post....now that's progress! What is it with January that makes it such a miserable month and what do you do to combat the January blues? Personally I either shop or book a holiday...pretty standard really.

I'm looking to book flights to Tanzania for a few months time, so if anyone has been comment below and give me your tips. I think I'll spend some time in Zanzibar for beach life and then the Serengeti for a bit of nature. I've also been shopping a bit these month with a few voucher cards I got for Christmas, so I'll have loads of new style edits in the coming couple of weeks, so keep an eye out on my Instagram account and blog to shop the looks.

But for now, I've styled together a look that I love from clothing and accessories that I've had in my wardrobe for some time. The coat is actually last years AW16 collection from Zara, so in the shop the look below, I've replaced this specific coat with some alternatives. The style is very black, including a shirt from COS, Chelsea boots from Superdry, jeans from ASOS and accessorised with a black 24 hour leather bag from Jack Russell Bags and an expertly crafted umbrella from the Kingsman range at Mr Porter. As always, if you like it, shop it below.

Just some stuff I threw on today | Outfit of the Day

The last week men's fashion has taken over my Twitter, Instagram and Facebook feeds with people talking about London Fashion Week Men's and now Pitti Uomo in Florence, it can seem relentless.  So today I've finally had a day where I can just throw on what I would normally wear everyday and it feels great.

I mean I'm not complaining as I had a great few days at LFWM, talking to brands, other bloggers and press. Looking back 4 years ago, when I made a complete career U-turn - I wouldn't have thought I would have been able to make the successes that I have made this quickly. To be established in something that was completely new to me and and industry that I have grown to love, makes me really proud of what's been achieved.

2017 has started well with my blog being rated at #17 in the Best Men's Fashion Blogs on the Planet based on Google rankings, Google reputation, quality of posts, social following and a panel of experts from Blogspot.

Moving on to what I'm wearing today. A pair of navy skinny jeans worn with my Superdry leather jacket, a dark green tee from Zara and a pair of dark olive boots by ohw and of course my Beoplay wireless headphones as I'll be spending most of the day on the London underground. So if you like what I'm wearing, go buy it below.

My Outfit of the Day Featuring Donhall & Bell and Van Loon Sport

London Fashion Week Mens or #LFWM for those of you following the hashtag throughout the 4 day event, starts tomorrow until Monday and London will be full of the most stylish men in the country. I'm likely to mix my LFWM outfits with everyday style, which is casual ripped jeans, leather jackets and monochrome attire (such as in this post) and smart, formal wear. This outfit styled around the trainers and the top is what I normally wear day in day out.

The leather jacket and jeans probably need no explaining as like I said, I wear them all the time...but to remind you the jacket is by Superdry and the jeans by ASOS. The two items of clothing that are new to my wardrobe are the Donhall & Bell sneakers and the Van Loon Sport top.

Donhall & Bell are a brand that I have reviewed before and are renowned for designing luxury slipper footwear. They have recently launched an epic sneaker or trainer (as we say in the UK) collection, which are available online now. Their collection is branded 'The Redchurch Collection' and available in 3 other colours as well as the black that I'm wearing, in dark green, navy and burgundy. Imagine one of the styled images below and change the colour of the trainers to the ones on offer and every single one would transform the look.

The second brand that I would like to mention in this post is a ski sports brand called Van Loon Sport. Their collection of ski under garments (base layer, second layer) for men and women is the first brand of its kind that can also quite easily step foot into the casual everyday fashion market. The quality of their warm, technical fabrics means that you can simply wear one of their tops and jacket even in the coldest of winter days in the capital, yet keep cool during a tube ride because the fabric is also breathable. It's time for me to browse through the rest of their collection because I'm off skiing (well snowboarding) in the next couple of months and I'm not going without a suitcase full of their products!

3 Outfits for 3 Different Occasions | This is my Superdry

FIRST DATE

If I could pick one event that I think most about what to wear, it is for a first date. First dates could change your life forever so it is worth taking time to decide what to wear. Shopping at Superdry is easy because of the diversity of their collections, head into their stores and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with the depth and extensiveness of their clothing all produced at an exceptional quality. I've chosen quite a basic, edgy look combining a leather jacket with denim shirt and Chelsea boots...all from Superdry.

DOG WALK

Walking the dog doesn't have to be a catwalk, however you never know who you'll bump into, so your outfit has to be practical as well as looking good. For this outfit, I have kept the colours quite dark as you will get paw prints of muddy paws on your clothing...so anything too light is out. I have layered a knitted hoodie with a trench coat, which has plenty of pockets for treats, doggy bags, phone, keys etc. Layers will keep you warm in the mornings and the boots are hardy for walking through parks, in fact the more you wear them and the more scuffed up they get - the more characterful they look.

OUTDOOR FITNESS

Whether you love fitness in the form of the gym, spinning classes, outdoor fitness classes, running or boxercise - this outfit works. For me I mainly participate in outdoor HIIT training by British Military Fitness. The main reason that I wear Superdry Sport collection, is because of their quality and workmanship. Doing outdoor fitness, your clothes take on a lot of mud and have to be well made to withstand the punishment you'll put them through. Superdry Sport lasts, it is that simple. It washes well and has technical warm yet breathable fabrics.

Superdry Is More Than Just Big Bold Branding

Forgive me Superdry but I haven't brought any of your men's clothing since about 8 years ago (give or take a couple of years - but the point is a LONG time ago). It was when everyone seemed to be taking about Superdry and loving the big bold branded shirts, hoodies and multiple zipped jacket - which had about 12 bloody zips on it! Actually I still have my yellow Superdry hoodie and grey/orange checked Superdry shirt. It was about a month ago now when I was invited to preview their new men's collection that I realised it is time to buy back into Superdry.

So I did a poll with my 30-something year old friends and asked them "What do you think of about the brand Superdry?" A preconception many people, including myself had was that Superdry only sells bold check shirts, bright coloured hoodies and the same in T-Shirt form. Maybe its because these products are their bread 'n' butter and are displayed as eye-catching pieces in the entrance to the stores attracting the customers, but not the older ones it seems, well if my small friendship group is anything to go by.

So this weekend when we all got together again, I wore the outfit above which is Superdry throughout and asked them what they thought of it. Everyone loved the smart yet casual look - every piece you can style with almost anything. The main comment was "No way is that Superdry!" - well it is and although there are still small branded touches it is ever so discrete now. Much more classic, classy and I think opened up a whole new market with my friends!

The quality is unbelievable (in a good way!), the jumper is so soft you can wear it without anything underneath. The jacket is so well made from the fabric, buttons, inner lining and zip and the design is very classic. As for the jeans, you can tell that the denim is hard wearing, none of this thin crappy denim and seems to be everywhere these days.

The Jumper and Jacket are both from the IDRIS ELBA Collection which is their premium collection - you can shop the range here.

Did you know that Superdry also does Sports wear? You can read my review of Superdry Sports here
