Men's New Collection Transitional Style Edit

Who else loves Autumn? The season of layering and getting excited for the new menswear collections, well that's until about January or February when it practically gets draining having to wear everything in your wardrobe just to hit the local shops. This weekend, other than going to the wedding of the century, watching Lewis Hamilton boss the Singapore Grand-Prix, watching my football team Crystal Palace lose their 5th game in a row without scoring and scrolling through a new batch of Bumble matches, I've also been shopping the latest threads from Reiss, ASOS & Stradivarius.

By getting some new pieces of clothing it can really reignite the confidence from within that you may have been lacking recently and these brands have some exceptional collections coming out. In my eyes, in particular Reiss who have an incredible selection of clothing focused around a green palette. So I've decided to make two of their AW17 pieces the statement of this look. The paint, brush stroke, pattern shirt and grey/green double-breasted pea coat work great together or as individual pieces. The final transitional look has been supplemented by a pair of black or green sneakers from Stradivarius and black ripped jeans from ASOS. Thats my transitional style edit for autumn 2017.

Simple styling, just get up and go

As per the title of this blog post, sometimes don't you just want to get up and go, no faffing around, no worrying about what to wear. Today was one of those days in which I didn't have much time in the morning, yet I still had to face the world and the general public. So I could just throw on a pair of jogging bottoms and t-shirt, which I would normally do if I was staying at home. I had to at least look semi respectable!

On days like this I go for simple styling. I pick up my favourite, versatile black skinny jeans and casual white shirt which doesn't have to be pristinely ironed, just roll the sleeves and let the other creases drop out. I'll grab a pair of white trainers, a watch and rucksack and away I go. A white t-shirt would also work perfect for this outfit...the key is to keep it simple and use that extra 20 minutes that you saved in the morning doing something worthwhile.

Men's Outfit of the Week | SS17 Style Edit

When I'm heading off to the pub on a Sunday afternoon for a roast dinner, I like to go cool, comfortable and casual whilst still looking stylish. You never know who you are going to meet and first impressions are extremely important. Lightweight jackets are the focus for this outfit of the week as they are essential when dressing for spring.

I love lightweight jackets that you can roll the sleeves up and this suede trucker jacket by Linea of House of Fraser is perfect. Navy is simple to style and almost any colour combination will work well paired together. What I've done in this outfit is layer a simple plain grey t-shirt, black jeans, black/khaki trainers and finally a black strap Timex watch.

It's simple, casual yet stylish...if you like it, you can shop the look below.

Outfit of the Day | May 2017 | Style Edit

Good evening people, I hope you all had a great Bank Holiday weekend and got through this Tuesday that clearly felt like a Monday. I don't know about you but I struggled! Struggled to get going despite about 8 cups of freshly ground coffee and I lost count of the amount of times I got up out of my desk and checked the fridge preying that someone has snuck in some chocolate. Maybe it is time to get a new flatmate that does that for me...applications welcome!

I've got some really amazing collaborations coming up with Toni & Guy, French Connection, NEXT Menswear, MR Porter, Farfetch, Goodwin Smith Shoes and Natural Selection. So keep checking back in every now and then as there is going to be some amazing content just around the corner.

For today, I've simply styled an everyday casual outfit that you can throw on and look great. The denim jacket is from Zara, the jeans from Topman and the linen shirt & sneakers from Stradivarius. If you like the look, click on the products below and shop it.

Outfit of the Week | Smart Casual Attire

Happy weekend to everyone reading this, I hope you are having a good one, hands up whose hungover and struggling today (my hands just gone up)! Last night I went to the relaunch (under new management) of the incredible Brocket Hall with Fox PR, if you missed my Instagram stories from last night, head over and check them out now. As you can imagine, in true style, I made the most of the free champagne and wine but feeling it today, hence it has taken me a couple of hours to get to this stage of writing the blog post. That and the Liverpool V Everton game is on TV and I'm easily distracted.

Let's get down to the fashion. My outfit of the week is focusing on smart casual wear, as I find myself wearing it more and more these days. A couple of trends that I'm seeing a lot of recently are double-breasted blazers and combining casual with tailoring - so in this look I have combined both trends and come up with this very tonal attire. Mixing jeans and trainers with a tailored blazer and overcoat may seem odd to many guys but as you can see the two marry up quite well, so give it a try. My grey double-breasted blazer is by Steel & Jelly and I'm wearing a 38" size, the rollneck is last season by Reiss, the overcoat is last season by Zara, finally the jeans are by Topman and sneakers by Stradivarius.

So if you like it, shop it.

London Men's Fashion Blogger | Carl Thompson

Okay so the title of this blog is to help out SEO but I couldn't think of anything exciting to write about today, I guess it's just one of those days where creativity is hard to come by. Normally on days like this, I'll either have a glass of wine or go to the gym and sit in the sauna for a while as both seem to help my writing and creativity. However today is just crazy busy, after writing this blog post, I need to edit some photos, write another post to go live tomorrow, edit a video, pop to the post office, make a coffee, walk my dog, check emails, create a report for an agency that I have been working with, submit a proposal for a collaboration, some social posts and finally get ready for an event in East London tonight.

This shoot was with another Men's lifestyle, fashion blogger and namesake Carl Cunard, you should all check him out as his style is impeccable (link to his website is at the bottom of this blog post).

What I decided to wear during this shoot is quite smart but without a tie and touching on the casual-tailoring trend by wearing trainers which are from Stradivarius. Moving upwards I'm wearing wool trousers from Reiss and a Navy short sleeved fine wool top. My navy blazer is on the casual end of tailoring rather than a smart suit jacket and is from Scalpers on Carnaby Street in London. Finally, I'm wearing my new boohooMan textured 3/4 length coat. That completes the look, if you like it, shop it below.

How to Style a Tan Suede Biker Jacket

A few days ago I posted about a new menswear launch from the brand Stradivarius and styled two separate outfits from their collection. Well, I loved the collection so much, I headed back to their Oxford Street store to purchase a few items that I liked so much. I have been looking for a tan suede biker jacket as we move into spring weather and Stradivarius had the perfect one in terms of colour, quality and price. It is a perfect jacket for transitioning seasons as you can layer t-shirts and knitwear as I have done in this look as well as wearing it over the top of a plain tee for warmer days.

When choosing what to wear for an outfit, the first thing I think about is matching colours that work well together, just think of an artists palette and work out what colour pairs work next to each other. The tan jacket is my statement piece of clothing in this outfit, so I'm going to pair the t-shirt and trainers then the jumper and jeans together - all of course working with the tan main colour. White trainers and layered t-shirt work extremely well to give the outfit a bit of 'pop' and clean aspect, too many dark colours probably wouldn't work as well. I then chose a mid-blue wash jean with grey jumper, which compliment each other great. I would avoid red colours as they might clash with the tan in the jacket.

Stradivarius Launches Menswear Collection Worldwide & In-store on Oxford Street, London

As of the 1st February 2017, Stradivarius launched their menswear collection worldwide and lucky for us Londoners in-store on Oxford Street. Stradivarius are no newbies in the fashion industry as they have been around since 1994 creating fashionable on-trend clothing. Stradivarius are constantly hunting down the latest trends and after browsing their collection online and in-store I can vouch that they have absolutely nailed it.

Last week, a day after they launched, I went into their store on Oxford street which is situated a two minute walk from Oxford Circus tube station. During this visit, I tried on some of their exceptional clothing and managed to put together a couple of outfits to show you for some men’s style inspiration.

For my first outfit I wanted to style the bomber jacket which has been an on-trend piece of clothing for a few seasons now, it’s an all-season jacket, which makes it a perfect wardrobe staple when transitioning from winter to spring and into summer. I’ve styled this black tech bomber jacket simply sticking to a monochrome theme with touches of khaki - a classic casual palette.

On colder days, you could layer the bomber jacket with a t-shirt and some knitwear, however on days where you are rushing around London I’ve opted for a simple tee and bomber jacket combination. The outfit is head-to-toe Stradivarius and of course I had to style this outfit with a pair of slim cut black jeans and trainers. The trainers are very much merging comfortable sports style with casual fashion details. Overall I love this outfit, a perfect look for day-to-night for your weekends away from the office.

My second outfit is touching on the smart-casual, diverse aspect of London life, an outfit that you can head into the office, go for a coffee meeting then out in the evening for dinner and drinks. Once again dressing head-to-toe in Stradivarius I’ve styled this outfit around a navy blazer. Because my first outfit was very dark, I wanted to show a contrast of colours in this second one. So I’ve combined the navy blazer with a crisp white shirt and grey turn-up trousers. To add a little bit of personality to the outfit, I’m wearing a super soft grey scarf and camel, desert coloured boots. Alternatively this outfit would work very will with a pair of white trainers, black or brown shoes.

As always, I love to see how you would style Stradivarius menswear as you are the inspiration to much of what I style myself, so it would be great if you could check out the Stradivarius collection and share your style with me and the brand alike.
