DW Apple Picking | A Very Muted Candle with not Much to Say

Today I'm taking another look at a DW Candle, Apple Picking. I've developed a mild fixation of late on Apple scented candles. This one falls under the same price bracket as my other recent strip mall purchases, $8.
The Hype
Lay upon a blanket surrounded by freshly picked apples meadow grass and dainty daisy swirling with dandelions and clover.
The Word on the Street
Personally has been my favorite candle ever. Even my brother said it smelt nice and he's not the biggest fan of candles, he ended up taking it from me. 10/10 would recommend, its a very calming homey scent. - REVIEW
My thoughts
I think the apple note in this scent is a bit too sweet. It's very top heavy and I speak as someone that has just spent the last weekend picking apples from the tree in his garden (oh how middle-aged/ cliche). I wouldn't go so far as calling this a misfire from DW Home, it's still an enjoyable scent. However, they've set a high bar with the Apple Honey Butter and this feels like a considerable step down from that.
It's not a very masculine scent and it doesn't really project that much. You'd probably enjoy this in a waiting room at the dentist or in a Skin Consultation clinic. But that's not my jam baby. I need a candle to help set the mood. It needs to lift my mood and this one is like the elevator music of candles as opposed to the anthem at an Oasis gig.
There is a whole REDDIT thread dedicated to which is the best Apple Scented Candle. I'd love to try the Bellows & Blaze “Apple of my Eye” if it crops up in a Marshalls or TX MAXX anywhere.
Interestingly there is a Hallmark Video available on YouTube that teaches you how to make a tea light candle from a hollowed out cooking apple. (Have I turned into a chick readers? I think so).
