Men's Style Edit: Winter Trench Coat & Knits

Today I'm going to walk you through a simple way to rock a Trench Coat this winter. This Trench Coat is actually a double breasted belted coat from River Island (priced at £60) but I much prefer to wear it open. It has terrific drape and allows me to show off some other layers. 

The chunk ribbed collar knitwear is from Sandro Paris and it pairs evenly with the stone Trench Coat. You'll appreciate how I like to keep my look clean, uninterrupted and the hues simple. This knit offers exactly that. Although it has some neat texture to it and the pattern is a mixture of geometrical weaves. 

I'm also wearing a River Island Brown check scarf to give the overall look some flare. That's currently available for £16 on the River Island website. 

My black skinny jeans are from Reiss, my all-time favourite brand. I was flattered they included me on their Influencer roster earlier this year. 

My brown derby’s are from Barbour and it keeps the outfit smart-casual. Anything too garish or bright such as Pumps or Yeezy's would be too jarring. 

I'm wearing my Elliot Rhodes belt and my Beaverbrooks X Tag Heuer watch that I have been wearing non-stop for the past few weeks.

Five facts about Trench Coats

When the Trench Coat became an optional item of British clothing in the British Army during the First World War, only officers were allowed to wear it. 

The Trench Coat was the brainchild of two pioneers in fabric innovation: John Emery and Thomas Burberry. 

The First World War-era versions had detachable sheepskin liners, which the officers behind the front line often wore like dressing gowns.

Ernest Shackleton was completely kitted out in Burberry Gabardine for his 194-16 Antarctic expedition. 

One of the most famous Trench Coats on screen was worn by Michael Caine in Get Carter, 1971.
