M of W.G STONE Candle | Scenting your home

Today I'm going to talk about yet another investment piece for the winter. But it's not a peacoat or a cashmere sweater. This is a Mega Candle from Makers of Wax Goods, (or M. of W.G) called Stone. Terrible name, but moving on. Even Connery hated it in The Untouchables, Schhhtone, George Sccchtone?

I digress.
What I do like are the ingredients. Herbal lavender, patchouli, cedar, eucalyptus, warm moss

and vetiver.

The Hype

Established in 2014. We strive to make well-crafted, premium candles. All candles are designed in California, aesthetically driven by nature, textures, and life's leisurely enjoyments. Each fragrance is selected for quality and for a unique aromatic experience.

My thoughts

First off, the jar is very imperious. It looks like the Romans left this behind when they were decorating the Pantheon. Its hexadecagon shape and tall yet squatish presence really give this candle some presence. It's the sort of candle you might enjoy in the gym due to its weight, its burliness and dare I say in this day and age, its unashamed masculinity.

The smell is forceful. The lavender is present straight from the off and the warm moss together with the cedar give it a very sure footing. The only downside for me is that it's not a very elegant smell. It's one that I look forward to returning to which is disappointing after hearing so many good things online.

Perhaps I've been spoiled with my previous winners like the Espresso Martini by Leoben. You can read my review of that candle here. Their social channels demonstrate who you should take photos of candles. Personally I've always found that tricky. When it's lit, where is the focus point?

Sadly they only ship in the U.S so you'll just have to keep an eye out for these in TJ MAXX or eBay here in the U.K. Whilst this was not entirely to my liking, I should say my other half loved it and is now booking trips to the U.S so we can pick up some more.
