Remorseful Dark by Solo Fragrances: Reviewed

I'm back with another Strip Mall Fragrance review, Remorseful Dark, Solo Fragrances impression of Gucci Guilty Black. This could possibly be the last one because I've noticed a sharp increase in the prices of men's fragrance, even in the heavily discounted section. Plus my nephew is no longer accepting these as gifts which means my basement is getting a little clogged up with these.

The hype

Enhance your lifestyle with a fragrance that mirrors your dynamic personality.

The Bottle

Comes in a well boxed neon-green and black honeycomb packaging. The bottle is typically very minimal. No text other than the title of the fragrance in capitals on the front. The shoulders are sloped and the bottle is see-through glass showing a very ocean green liquid.

The cap is ribbed and plasticky and barely locks onto the cap. The atomiser is surprisingly good.

The notes

An alluring symphony of red berries, pink pepper, lilac, violet, peach, raspberry, caramel, amber, patchouli, and musk.

The word on the street

N/A (Surely I can't be the first and possibly only person to review this?).

Opening

It has some of the promise of red berries, and the soft saccharin underbelly that I assume is their attempt at caramel. It's not offensive which is probably a great compliment for a fragrance of this price point. Anyway, we're off to the races.

Middle

I returned to the scent after ten minutes and as per usual, it all but disappeared. The last of these strip mall fragrances are what makes it a strip mall fragrance. I've yet to find one with genuine performance.

The best application for these perfumes is to have a spray just before getting into bed so your partner can get a nice 10-15 minutes on your shoulder as he or she spoons close. There are some leftover traces of pink pepper, but it's a dot on the horizon.

The Settle-down

Unfortunately there is nothing of note to anchor Remorseful Dark. Nothing is either Remorseful, nor Dark. I would have settled for one or the other.

Take aways

Let's focus on the positives. I do like the colour of the liquid and the bottle might elevate your shelf rather than your style, confidence or fragrance portfolio. It feels very old school in your hand, but smells very generic on the wrist. Not bad. Not acidic, but sadly another cheap fragrance that gets stuck in the stalls.
