Robot Homme City by Hybrid & Company | The Best Novelty Fragrance Bottle?

Take a look at this little guy. No, that's not a line I used at the doctor's office the other day, I am referring to the Robot Homme City fragrance bottle by Hybrid & Company. I chanced upon my nephew's very impressive fragrance collection (for his age anyway) when this bottle just popped right out to me. How could you not pick this up?
The Hype:
I got this fragrance for myself. It reminds me of my Hugo Boss "The Scent", a mature professional scent, soft and lively, long lasting and appealing, the ladies need to get it for their significant other. My wife loves it. - Amazon Reviewer.
The bottle:
It's the most fun you'll have with a fragrance bottle. Shaped like a toy robot, the bottle says 'don't take me the least bit seriously.' What would a robot smell like anyway? What do you think Johnny 5 smelled like? It's a question for the ages.
The opening:
As expected it's a fun play of nebulous citrusy-ness. I'd like to say there was an early push of pineapple, interweaved with a hush of bergamot, gently pressed with black currants fresh off the vine. But all I got was apples. Not bad apples, but just apples. Still it transports me to the top lawn of my parents house as a child. There the solitary apple tree grew, unloved, unclimbed. My mother scooped its givings from the lawn and made a pie. My sister and her husband built their home on that lawn, that tree gives no more.
The settle down:
Some patchouli ebbs its way into the conversation here. You'll recognise the patchouli aroma, it's often woody, earthy yet has a creamy sweetness to it. The mix is underscored quite subtly by the rose. It's not the best Rose note, but it still transports me to summer walks along Chiswick Lane. My wife stopped to smell the roses that spilled out from the neighbours fence.
The dry down:
It's not often you see a fragrance with an entry level price that has Ambergris in the note profile. Ambergris is a whale product that cannot be imported by many countries that comply with the endangered species act. You'll all know about Ambergris if you've watched the film Hannibal when Clarice, played by Julian Moore goes to see the nose specialists who identify the notes in a handwritten letter that Hannibal sends on from his escape lodgings in Florence. You can catch that clip on YouTube here. I recommend you do it's one of the best ever perfume scenes captured on film.
