TOP 10 LEATHER JACKETS FOR MEN

Leather. Just the word. Leather. It makes you want to jump into a Porsche 550 and drive around the village wishing your neighbours a Merry Christmas as gayly as you can in the vain of a Frank Capra movie. (Although really you're just letting them know how much money you have).

I simply love leather, and not just the word, but the very thing itself. You may have already caught my video on how to wear Leather Jackets and here I'd like to talk a bit more about my favourite Leather Jackets for men. I've pencilled in the title Top 10 Leather Jackets for Men, although I might add more to it over time so feel free to contact me for endorsements, or if you just want to talk about leather jackets. My door is always open.

Boda Skins. As you may have seen on my previous post about my love of leather jackets, I have to give a shout out again to Boda Skins. The Voyager currently on discount at £360 has the ribbed detailing and is still the hallmark that gives great texture and oozes menace. Woof.

Schott NYC Biker. Known for its iconic Perfecto motorcycle jacket, Schott NYC offers durable, stylish leather jackets. When the Schott brothers started their company back in 1913, they peddled their raincoats and leather jackets door to door in the Lower East Side of New York City. Today, their family still makes jackets by hand using the same turn of the century machines just beyond NYC. My pick is the Waxed Pebble Cowhide for $975.

Belstaff: This luxury brand creates premium leather jackets with a focus on durability and a timeless aesthetic. If it's good enough for Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible 3, it's good enough for me. My pick of the recent collection is the Trialmaster Panther edition. Sounds sexy, looks sexier. Available for £1350

Acne Studios: Recognised for its modern designs and high-quality leather, Acne Studios offers a range of stylish jackets. I like the distressed one on their website, although I'm not too keen on how the model is wearing it. He looks like David Bowie's X AI lovechild that has escaped the production line like Johnny 5 did in Short Circuit. Currently going for $2k on their site

AllSaints: They produce a variety of leather jackets with a focus on contemporary style and quality craftsmanship. I'm going to include the suede jacket here. Is suede a leather fabric? (Quick Google) Yes it is. Suede is a type of leather made from the underside of the animal skin, giving it a soft surface. I like the Ronan for £299.

The Real McCoy's: Specialising in vintage-inspired leather jackets, this brand emphasises authenticity and attention to detail. Whether it's McCoy's leather or McCoy's crisps, I'm a fan and very open for brand endorsement discussions if anyone from their respective marketing teams are reading this. We could even have a 'McCoy Off' and ask punters on the street, which one they prefer. (Scrap that, terrible idea). I've picked out the Buco for your viewing pleasure, a snip at £1795.

Saint Laurent: A high-end luxury brand known for its sophisticated and fashion-forward leather jackets. And how about this Double-Breasted Leather Trench Coat for £4757. It's not a jacket it's a statement. And that statement says, 'In your face Vegans'.

Superdry: And for something a bit closer to home, a bit more digestible in money terms. The 70s leather jacket, on sale currently for £199. Inspired by the sunny 70s, this classic leather jacket will ensure that you shine no matter how cool the days become thanks to its earthy tones and traditionally rustic design.

TOM FORD: Think big be big. The suede field jacket from TOM FORD is one that will make you sit up and beg for buttermilk. (Can you name the film? NO it's not Porky's. NO it's not The Goonies. Yes it's True Lies). Available from Mr Porter for just under 8k.

Ralph Lauren: And lastly but not leastly. I just have to include this beautiful burnished brown leather jacket by Ralph Lauren into the mix. Partly because it's stunningly made from full-grain cowhide. And partly because I have a nagging tooth ache and may need to lie down and cry. Specially developed for a vintage look. Available for £1665
