Woody by Olfactive O: Fragrance Reveiw

Today I want to tell you all about a new fragrance that I have recently received called, Woody by Olfactive O. Or as I like to call it, the Swiss army knife of fragrances. I like to call it that because I believe it to be one of the most versatile fragrances currently on the market.

I can wear it whilst shopping for walnut coffee tables in Dunelms, or at client meeting at an upmarket restaurant that I've chosen because I know they'll be paying. I've also called it that because I'd like for nothing more than to have a tagline attached to all future press releases accrediting me and all my social handles.

Woody by Olfactive O is a Woody fragrance that is unisex, that's to say it's for women and men. Woody was launched in 2019. The nose behind this fragrance is Olivia da Costa. Top notes are Cedar and Black Pepper; middle notes are Vetiver, Leather and Myrrh; base notes are Ambergris, Sandalwood and Labdanum.

The scent comes housed in a transparent glass cube shape crowned with a tall black cap. Which makes it look like one of those ornate chess pieces you might find in a Venetian tourist shop. To me it reminds me of what Goldfinger's henchman, Odd Job might look like if he came back in another life as a boutique fragrance.

From the website:

I am the curious mind, the subtle presence. I travel the world but tread lightly and you’ll learn my secrets slowly. I am cashmere, russet and dark chocolate, bringing you solace and the space to just be. I am a walk in the woods, a warm bath, a good book.

NOTES:

Dark top: cedar, black pepper
Secret heart: vetiver, smoked leathers, myrrh
Thoughtful base: white ambergris, sandalwood, labdanum

Ultimately, and here is the nub. It's the season for snuggling up to your pets or loved ones or both. Growing out your beard and drinking your own body weight in mulled wine. This fragrance offers you a soothing quality. One of both adventure and familiarity. Which might sound a trite contrarian, but to recall the title of an overly saccharin Hollywood remake starring Adam Sandler, Just Go With It. In other words, I bloody love this and you will too.

£65 from the website.
