Thoughts on: Czech & Speake's New Perfecto Fino Fragrance

Czech & Speake of London have added Perfecto Fino Eau de Parfum to their fragrance base that was established in 1980. I've been told the nose who worked on the earlier fragrances was John Stephen, but not that John Stephen.

Some history on Czech & Speake of London

Czech & Speake of London was founded in 1978 and the first dedicated shop opened at 88c Jermyn Street, London SW1 two years later.

The complete Czech & Speake concept includes period and contemporary bathroom ranges, fittings and accessories. A range of exclusive aromatic fragrances was introduced to extend the bathroom concept.

Let’s talk Perfecto Fino Eau de Parfum

Top Notes: Lemon, Bergamot
Middle Notes: Cinnamon, Grass, Clove
Base Notes: Labdanum, Leather, Patchouli, Amber, Sandalwood, Tobacco

This is a fragrance that’s been four years in the making. According to the founder Frank Sawkins he wanted  a fragrance that represented Central America.

I think he has achieved that with the graphics on the bottle and the engraved image reminiscent of old cigar boxes.

My thoughts

This does offer something very transportable. And by that I mean it evokes a lot of distant imagery. The fragrance is undeniably masculine. I imbibed the cracked Russian leather and charred smoke as if I were getting a ride back to Havana airport in a '55 Pontiac.

The fragrances' brawn is somehow mellowed with natural herbaceous notes of jasmine and orange flower.

Where would I wear this?

I would be quite sparing with this fragrance due to the push and the price tag. It has a black tie feel, but also something artisan. As if you're going shopping exclusively for a chesterfield sofa. Or maybe you're getting the Aston Martin re-upholstered.

That's probably a bit niche but hopefully you get where I'm going. Imagine you're going on a first date at the V&A and you need to let your date know you truly care about the lineage and socio-political importance of the Rosetta Stone.
