TOP 10 MEN’S LEATHER FRAGRANCES

Today I'm going to be throwing a spotlight on the top ten leather fragrances for men. In a previous post I touched upon what notes are synonymous with men's fragrances. You can read that article here

In no discernible order, but obeying the laws of listicles,

ARAMIS Modern Leather

Way back in the day I reviewed Aramis Modern Leather as my go-to day night fragrance. Aramis Modern Leather is a great day fragrance - distinctly masculine and unmistakably elegant, the provocative fragrance marries the contemporary and timeless with ease.

TOM FORD Ombré Leather

This is the latest version. The PARFUM version of the OMBRE LEATHER and this is denoted in the packaging by a white label on the black bottle. I spoke about this at length in a previous article. It really jumps off the skin and has some great longevity. A couple of pumps on the collar and wrist in the morning and I was good to go for the remainder of the day.

TOM FORD Tuscan Leather

Whilst we are here let's talk about the other TOM FORD leather fragrance. The Tuscan is spicier on the dry down. Although both fragrances have spicy qualities. Only the Ombre rests at a sweeter place than the Tuscan. In my experience, the Ombre is more favourable for the ladies. Catch the full Tuscan V Ombre review in my article here

PENHALIGON'S Halfeti Leather

The leather spices reconnect times fishing on a small rental boat with a family friend along the Norfolk Broads. Or something distant, illusory, like a holiday you dreamed of or saw in an old black and white movie once. I reviewed the 3 new fragrances by Penhaligon's back in October.

JO MALONE LONDON Bronze Wood & Leather Cologne Intense

It's opulent, it's luxury, it's empowering. The perfect tonic for an evening date. I'm awash with a lot of casual and semi-casual fragrances currently so I'm relieved to have a scent that slots perfectly into evening wear. You can catch the full review in my article here

LE LABO Santal 33

The following are on my wish list. I share my same optimism as GQ when they spoke about Le Labo Santal in their Best Men's Leather Fragrances back in October 2021.

This unisex fragrance opens with top notes of iris, violet, ambrox and cardamom, which then evolve into a warming, leathery musk for a comforting and addictive aroma.

BY KILIAN Royal Leather

On my wish list, although I am lucky to have the Gold Knight By Kilian fragrance. (Reviewed here). This one has been reviewed favourably and included in another Leather Fragrance listicle by Viora London. With other notes of black tea, oud and patchouli, it's a bit of me this one.

BENTLEY Intense for Men

A leather fragrance loved by Country Club For Men, Bentley Intense is a great leathery fragrance. This Eau de Parfum smells like a boozy leather fragrance. Certainly one for the wishlist and would love to get on those Bentley campaign trails. Overall, this scent mixes leather with notes of incense and smoke. In addition to that, you can smell woody accords that mingle with everything else.

JOHN VARVATOS Dark Rebel

I know the brand primarily through my friend Pete Brooker who writes about them on his blog From Tailors With Love. If you love aviator glasses, leather jackets or if you simply dress in black, you will need to try it out at some point. At some point, you might even get away by naming it as a niche fragrance and nobody will be able to tell you otherwise.

FLORIS Mahon Leather

This one recommended by the guys over at Dapper Confidential. The Floris shop is one of the oldest in the country and of course, the Ian Fleming no.89 is covered comprehensively here. This 2011 release is quintessential gentleman stuff.  It’s inspired by Mahn, the capital of the Spanish island of Menorca, the birthplace of the founder of this British heritage brand, Juan Famenias Floris, which can trace its roots all the way back to 1730.
