Triumph & Disaster | The Men's Grooming Care Package

Today I’ve been trialling men’s grooming brand Triumph & Disaster. Firstly I have to say that prior to receiving these products which were gifted by the brand, I actually brought their Fibre hair product recently which I use alongside my other favourite haircare products from American Crew.

What is Triumph & Disaster?

Designed by New Zealand cricketer Dion Nash to evoke the old-fashioned values of times gone by, Triumph & Disaster unique line of products contains signature scents and naturally derived ingredients to soothe and protect skin from the elements. They're currently stocked in Selfridges, Liberty London, John Bell & Croyden, BEAST and more. Firstly is these luxury retailers are confident enough to stock the products, they must be doing something right.

In my care package I received the Coltrane ClaySpice - Natural Deodorant and Gameface Moisturiser.

The Coltrane Clay offers a very firm hold in a mainly matte finish and a very slight shine. My hair is quite thick and wavy so I always use a hair styling product that is matte and dry - this clay really ticks all the boxes…it smells great too. I found that over time the clay softened and gave my hair a more natural, re-workable texture to the hair, which I actually preferred. £21 for 95g.

The Spice Deodorant is presented as a roller-ball style in a travel ready 50ml bottle. The fragrance itself is very spice heavy, nothing like I’ve smelt before - the clove note in particular comes through strong. One thing that I struggle with is when people spend a fortune on their aftershave yet use a cheap £3 deodorant. This is the opposite of that, this deodorant will compliment your aftershave perfectly especially is you like spicy, woody and sweet fragrances such as Tom Ford Tuscan Leather, Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille or Diptique Tam Dao. £17.50 for 50ml.

The Gameface Moisturiser product and packaging is superb. The three main things I look for in a men’s moisturiser are the fragrance, the finish and how it makes me feel after I wear it. The fragrance is great, very masculine with smoke & wood notes. When I used this light moisturiser, I found the finish isn’t oily but matte, although with a slight shine which looked great and just helped hydrate my skin throughout the day. It made me feel refreshed, awake and nourished. £36.95 for 90ml.
