Men's Skincare: 5 Step Routine for Your Skin
Scrivner for Men x Carl Thompson.jpg

I’m a sucker for convenience. As an example: I live a minute from a tube station, near a post-office, dry cleaners, supermarkets and of course the obligatory kebab shop - you see, complete convenience!! So when I read about Scrivner for Men launching their 5 STEP SKIN STRATEGY, it made my ears prick up.

After trialling the products for a while, I have determined that the strategy works and the products fit in nicely with this regimented routine for men’s skincare. If you would like to trial the Scrivner for Men 5 Step Skin Strategy then click here. Alternatively you can use their methology but use other similar skincare products that you may already have on your shelf or you’ve used in the past with good results.

STEP 1 - SKIN CLEAN - CLEANSE

Use this pre or post shave. Place a small amount on your fingers, massage into the face and neck areas. In the meantime warm a flannel or mitt and use it to wipe away the balm gently.

STEP 2 - SKIN RESURFACE - EXFOLIATE

Exfoliate your face two to three times a week. If you’re using the Scrivner Daily Resurfacing AHA/BHA Acid Exfoliator, they recommend drizzling the product on to a cotton pad and sweep over the face to apply. If you are using a more traditional exfoliator (the ones that have a gritty texture to them), I would apply the same way as in step 1.

STEP 3 - SKIN HYDRATE - HYDRATION

The main ingredient in skincare for hydration is Hyaluronic Acid which absorbs 1000 times its weight in water. To apply, dispense a small amount in to your hands and use your fingers to massage into your face and neck areas.

STEP 4 - SKIN DEFENCE - NOURISH

Treat your skin with this nourishing oil which will enrich the skins natural barrier function. Simply apply via a cotton pad then massage any excess oil with your hands. This product also works as a moustache and beard oil too.

STEP 5 - SKIN PROTECT - PROTECTION

Most of us already moisturise, I hope! Although how interesting that moisturising creams are the final step in this routine. Moisturisers should be used AM and PM twice daily, massaging into the face and neck. If you have facial hair, I would recommend using more product and aggressively massaging the cream into the beard so that it reaches the skin underneath.
