Artisan Sandalwood and Amber by Tru Fragrance

Today I'm sharing my thoughts on my latest purchase, the Artisan Sandalwood & Amber by Tru Fragrance. My expectations going in is that this will be a fair to middling scent, generic yet pleasant enough to get me by in client meetings and innocuous events.

The Hype:

"Good Smell" Ebay user.

The Bottle:

It's the bottle that spoke to me when I found this in the Strip Mall. I have a thing for classic cylindrical bottles with minimalist labelling. This will sit handsomely amongst my collection at home. The ribbed plasticky cap is fine in this case as it's pure black and matches the label.

Opening:

There is a nice fresh citrusy burst. Like being pummelled with all the sweetness of red apples and orange blossom. There is only a mild present of creaminess, which would have to be the amber. Amber is typically warm, sweet and sensual. Often mistaken for vanilla or musk. I was hoping this would be more at the forefront because I have plenty of aquatic citrusy fragrances, and the amber is almost totally eclipsed by the shadow of greens and fruits. Still, a pleasant start.

Settle down:

I returned ten minutes later and the scent had certainly warmed on my wrist. It had a glow of crisp Americana, like a walk through one of the everglades in Southern Florida. The woodsy undercurrent gave it a pleasant grounding. Not overly masculine, not a lot of projection, but an intimate flicker of a journey into the unknown. I know right away this will be a hit, and the other half will be using it too.

Dry down:

After I came back 20 minutes later the scent had morphed into something more coniferous. The character of the Sandalwood had elbowed its way through and was beaming. I love the closeness, like someone throwing a cashmere scarf around your hands and neck. Like a kiss from your first love, that occasionally pops up in your dreams and you just hope to God you don't say her name in your sleep.

Artisan Sandalwood and Amber is an incredibly intimate experience.

Where to wear:

School reunions if you're single. Under the sheets for sure. Nostalgia, missed opportunities, ones that got away. Is everything lost? Will she still remember how we were? I've not changed

baby, you can hunt me down and I won't put up a fight. Whats mine is yours to take, just like last time. We can still go to the same spots, the tractor roads just off the highway. Park under the trees, smoke cigarettes. Just like the old days baby girl.
