Heritage Le Telfair Mauritius | Hotel Review

This is the land of luxury. Another leg of our tour of Mauritius brought us to the Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Wellness Resort. Situated on 1,300 hectares, Bel Ombre invites you to discover the secrets of its territory. It's completely enveloped in nature and characterised by the refined grandeur of the French plantation estate architecture of the late 19th century.

Heritage Resorts offers a range of 12 restaurants and 8 bars, all of them located at Bel Ombre Territory. Depending on your meal plan, you can have access to all the restaurants with or without extra costs. Bookings are strongly recommended (although we had ours taken care of as part of the press opportunity) and can be done only upon your arrival at the resort.

The resort is beautiful with 2 pools and stunning beaches. You also have access to Awali resort which is next to Le Telfair, which were very walkable. You can tour their beautiful reserves for hours with their buggy, quad, 4x4 or foot guides. Mainly Tuula and I walked around on our own, you can walk everywhere in the resort within 5-6 minutes.

The Cabana nautical centre offers numerous water activities, some of them are free of charge (windsurf, laser, kayak, snorkelling, glass bottom boat trip…) and others are at an extra cost (scuba diving, kite surf, catamaran cruise, stand-up paddle). The stand-up paddle was our favourite and it's surprising how much of a work out that can be. We had ours comped as part of the press pack, but payable activities include: Scuba Diving (PADI), Tubing, Sailing lessons, Kitesurfing, Stand Up Paddle, Sunset Cruise / Dolphin watch, Big game fishing. Windsurfing, Lasers, Kayak (Single & Double), Water bikes, Pedal boats, Glass bottom boat trips and Snorkelling are all complimentary.

We had a truly amazing suite host called Sharmaine, you couldn't stop her from smiling. She knew a lot about the resort, and she oversaw all the bookings for all of our dinners. Just when you think she might have the day off she'd crop up at breakfast again and say hello. Conveniently we could be in contact with her throughout the day and night via whatsapp.

Of all my restaurants, Annabella’s restaurant was our favourite. Managed expeditiously. The food was universally good in all of the Telfair restaurants and they offer a good variety of foods. The cocktails are fabulous and we never had to wait long to be served, if at all.

The Chateau golf course was in superb condition, although we only goofed around on the driving range. I think renovations on one of the courses will be complete at year end, but if you've come for golf you won't be disappointed.
The breakfast was fabulous - lots of fresh fruit, freshly squeezed juices, hot options, pastries and pancakes. I had extra pancakes as I missed Shrove Tuesday. In the evenings we hung around the various bars, took some country walks and watched some movies in the Outdoor cinema available at the C Beach Club.

Unlike the previous hotel, Veranda Paul et Virginie Mauritius, this one is catered for families. However, we still found the place tranquil, relaxing and the staff were as attentive to our needs as they were to the other guests with families. Loved every minute thanks for having us.
