Top 5 Explorer Watches for Outdoor Adventures & Expeditions

Today I'm going to share some of my research notes on the Best Explorer Watches for Outdoor Adventures and Expeditions. I've been making some enquiries as I'm looking to rethink what is masculinity. In an age where everything is one click away. You don't need to know how to change a tyre, just call the RAC. Don't need to know how to tie a bow tie, just wear the clip on. I feel like we're in an age where the basic ingredients of what we learned through our forefathers, are starting to atrophy. We need to start doing things for ourselves, and tune in a little to what's going on. What needs to be fixed around the house? What can I do myself that I don't need to hire a trust a trader for.

With that in mind, I want to be going on more adventures. Maybe some rock climbing, maybe conquer some nature trails. Then I started to wonder, what watch would I want on my wrist when embarking on these missions. Here is what I found, I'd be keen to hear your thoughts.

Rolex Oyster, 36 mm, Oystersteel + Yellow Gold

Synonymous with excellence and reliability, Rolex watches are designed for everyday wear, and depending on the model, perfectly suited for a wide range of sports and other activities. Recently learnt that the Rolex logo has five points to its crown, which brings symmetry with the name ROLEX made up of five letters. Built to last, these timepieces are characterised by their distinctive and timeless aesthetics. I dig the large 3, 6, 9, 12 hour markers, which will allow the user to tell the time no matter what the circumstance. The Oyster Perpetual Explorer is the essential watch for exploration

Breitling Endurance Pro Ironman

Breitling’s IRONMAN® edition lightweight Endurance Pro watch is non-magnetic, thermally stable and highly resistant to scratches, traction and corrosion. It also has a touch that is warmer than metal and a slightly textured effect accentuating the originality of the design. I like anything with Iron in the title. Iron man, Ironmongers are people I have time for, Iron supplements I take every morning. I guess the only Iron I don't like is the actual 'Iron'. Hate Iron-ing, which is ironic because everything else to do with Iron, I'm down for.

Bremont U-2

The DNA of the U-2 chronometer lies firmly with the military following the pioneering development and dramatic success of the Bremont military air-crew watch. The finished U-2 chronometer has most of the advanced elements of the MB, including; the Anti-shock rubberised movement mount; designed to withstand the MB ejection seat program, but also added functionality.

Now unlike the Breitling IRONMAN watch, I actually despise anything with the letters U2 in. The band is wildly overrated and I don't understand how 2 band members have rock names like Bono and The Edge, and the other two are just Larry and Adam. It's confusing to me.

But I digress. I'm sold on the 'withstand the MB ejection seat program' capabilities. You just never know man. You never know.

Casio W-86-1VQES

Not all of us can afford the fancy pants designer watches. This CASIO watch features a digital display, a stopwatch and a microlight for optimal visibility. The watch is housed in a durable resin case. Suitable for sporting activities as it is 50M water resistant and everyday wear.

Available £28.

Montblanc 1858 Automatic

Apparently if you're going to climb Mount Everest it's always best to go analogue according to Mr Kenton Cool in this article on Mr Porter. This Montblanc 1858 Automatic is similar to the one George Mallory wore, the climber who lost his life on Everest. Hopefully the watch or its lack of GPRS didn't contribute to his demise.

Available £2,255.
