THE COMMANDER SEAMASTER IS THE QUICKEST SELLING OMEGA ON THE SECONDARY MARKET RIGHT NOW

Today I wanted share with you some images and information on the Omega Seamaster with regards to current value and investments. It's a model that is studded with history being the longest running product line still produced by Omega. It was introduced in 1948, and was based upon designs made for the British Royal Navy towards the end of World War II. The original Seamaster's key feature was an O-ring gasket used to provide its waterproof seal.

Perhaps most of you know it as the watch synonymous with James Bond. It has been the timepiece of choice for Bond for nearly 30 years, starting with Pierce Brosnan in 1995. Indeed if you're after a true Seamaster investment then the auction houses are always a good indicator. An Aqua Terra Seamaster worn in No Time To Die sold at Christies for £119,700.

Whilst the Seamaster is a beautiful timepiece, there is a large collector market for Speedmasters given its unique heritage. The manual winding Speedmaster Professional was the first watch worn by an astronaut walking on the Moon during the Apollo 11 mission that 600 million people watched from Earth.

Last year (2021) Omega spiked their prices for the Seamaster Divers according to Time and Tide Watches, breaking the $5,000 barrier for the first time. Brands do adjust for inflation every year and the prices inevitably go up. But I'm yet to uncover whether that affected the secondary market, which is always the gauge on whether the value is going up or the it's simply the price.

TIP

Whether you're looking to buy a Seamaster for the love of the watch, the brand or for his King's favourite employee, you should know that the Commander 007 Watch, (although never appearing in a Bond film) is highly sought after. In fact when I first sat down to pen this article the watch on loan to me had already sold. Another Seamaster landed shortly after and was also snapped up. I was at first considering not writing this article because I would only be talking about a watch that had already been sold. What good would that be to you? The message of this story is that the Omega Seamaster's are in demand. Every now and then supply meets demand, but when you scour the EST1897 homepage for this watch, it's not there. Other well-known secondary luxury watch sellers are also not stocking this particular model.

So perhaps just keep checking the Omega Page for 1897.co.uk and better yet, contact the good people there and ask to be notified if a Commander Seamaster arrives in stock.
