Ermenegildo Zegna Releases Essenze Golden Myrrh | New for 2021

A couple of things, and let’s start with the name. If you ever want to look like Mr Fancy Pants at a party, then dropping the correct pronunciation of Ermenegildo Zegna casually into conversation will get people believing you know everything about fashion. It's the truth. Secondly Ermenegildo Zegna are featured in one of my best tailoring scenes in a movie. If you've ever seen Family Man with Nicholas Cage, the suit which he tries on in the department store and says, 'just wearing this suit, makes me feel like a better person. I'm gunna buy it', is an Ermenegildo Zegna suit. 

Before we get onto the Parfum itself how about a little background knowledge on Ermenegildo Zegna.

History

Ok let's get to the Parfum shall we, and start with the bottle. 

The Packaging

The Zegna Essenze Eau de Parfum bottle is elegantly formed in a luxuriously weighted smoked glass. The bottle features a metallic gold-tone magnetic cap balanced by a deep base and opens and closes reassuringly. The soft touch, covered wood box is layered in regality with a green suede interior and metal plaque. 

The Scent

After a few pumps you're taking on a journey with the pink pepper. It's a bit if a fog, from there to the OUD and the Myrhh, almost like a phantasmagorical dreamscape with seamless transitions. It's rich, it's wood and it's got more texture than a neatly pressed velvet jacket. 

In fact, that is exactly the image one conjures when the dry-down of pepper and incense takes hold. A cocktail party somewhere on the wooded banks of Lake Garda. A crimson coloured velvet dinner jacket with a polka dot pocket square, trim satin dress trousers and shoes shined to mirrors. A Negroni for me an Aperol Spritz for her.
