L'OCCITANE Relaunch Their Cade Wood Essentials

We all love a comeback. Unless you’re Steve Davis in the 80s. (Timely Snooker reference for you there). Today I'm going to talk you about the L'OCCITANE relaunch of their Cade Wood essentials. It contains a patented complex of Cade Wood essential oil and Primrose essential oil.

In the collection you'll find the Cade Daily Exfoliating Cleanser, Energizing Face Fluid, Purifying Charcoal Mask, Shaving Soap, Shaving Cream, Refreshing Shaving Gel, Revitalizing Cream, Comforting Aftershave Balm, Multi-Grooming Balm, Softening Beard Oil ,Eau de Cedrat, Cap Cedrat and Eau des Bavx.

Many of the L'OCCITANE Cade products are available in two sizes: one for the bathroom, and one for on the go! I won't be reviewing all the products as that will be a bit of a slog. Instead I'll just give you some of the details and benefits of the Cade Wood that I've been privy to on the press release and some further research online. I have tried and tested some samples and as with all the products from L'OCCITANE it doesn't disappoint.

Some skincare basics you should know

Men's skin is thicker than women’s, that's why we age later. Which is actually quite good to know. (But hold on how come we die in our 70s and women get to rock and roll into their 80s? Ah yeah, bar fights. We're more reckless right?)

It's generally thicker (up to around 25%), oilier (it produces more sebum) and, of course, it can be damaged by daily shaving. It also contains more collagen, which helps to keep it firm and supple. However, once wrinkles appear, they are often deeper and more pronounced. A lot of the time it's because we don't care for sun creams, general lotions and potions like women do.

So Tell me about Cade Carl

Also known as prickly juniper, cade grows as a shrub or tree. Together with the Primrose essential oil it contains a wonderful antioxidant and completely moisturisers your skin and enriches, rather than glosses over in a wet, greasy, deeply unsatisfying way.

The cade L'OCCITANE use is 100% organic and comes from the Ardèche region of France, not far from their factory in Manosque.

How will it smell on the skin?

The smell is incredibly masculine, thanks to the distinctive woody, smoky and earthy notes. It definitely has that 'raw cave man vibe' that appeals to my animalistic sensibilities.

What's so special about THESE cade products

Cade essential oil is quite rare and difficult to extract. L'OCCITANE exclusive cade wood essential oil is combined with rosemary essential oil in a patented complex with soothing, antioxidant properties and helping reduce excess sebum properties, which can be found in all our non-rinsed off Cade skincare products.

The collection is available to shop through the L'OCCITANE website.
