Hotel Review: Le Grand Bellevue Gstaad

Getting to Gstaad was very much part of the experience. Flying into Switzerland with SWISS set the tone straight away, calm, smooth and effortless from the moment of arrival. From Zurich, the journey continued by train using the Swiss Travel Pass, winding through some of the most beautiful scenery in the country. The highlight was travelling on the GoldenPass Express, which connects the journey seamlessly into the heart of the Alps. Snow covered landscapes, quiet villages and mountain views rolled past the windows, making the journey feel unhurried and considered.
Some hotels impress you the moment you arrive. Others slowly win you over. Le Grand Bellevue in Gstaad somehow manages to do both.
From the second you step through the doors, there’s a sense that everything has been thought through. The location alone is exceptional, tucked just a short walk from the centre of Gstaad, yet peaceful enough to feel like a retreat. Gstaad itself is one of those places that feels quietly special; refined, beautiful and effortlessly alpine, without ever feeling showy. Staying at Le Grand Bellevue puts you right in the heart of it.
After travelling in, the first thing that genuinely stayed with me was something very simple: a club sandwich. We had it for lunch shortly after we arrived, and it was honestly one of the best I’ve had. Perfectly made, comforting, and exactly what you want after a long journey.
The room was everything you hope for in a mountain hotel. Spacious, calm, beautifully designed and incredibly comfortable. Waking up to views of the snow covered landscape felt almost unreal, especially as the light changed throughout the day. It’s the kind of room you actually enjoy spending time in, rather than just sleeping in.
One of the real standouts was the ski hire experience, which is all handled within the hotel itself. The quality of the equipment was exceptional, but more than that, the care and attention stood out. Nothing felt rushed. Everything was adjusted properly, explained clearly, and done with genuine expertise. It made heading out onto the slopes feel effortless, even if you’re not skiing every day.
Then there’s the spa. After a full day on the mountain, it was exactly what the body needed. Spacious, serene and beautifully designed, it’s the sort of place where time disappears. Pools, heat, quiet corners, it’s less about ticking boxes and more about actually switching off.
Food throughout the stay was consistently excellent, from relaxed moments to more refined dining. There’s a sense that quality matters here, but without any stiffness. Everything feels welcoming, warm and easy.
Overall, Le Grand Bellevue is one of those rare hotels that feels like a dream to stay in. Luxurious without being intimidating, attentive without being overbearing, and perfectly placed for everything Gstaad has to offer. It’s the kind of hotel that doesn’t just support a great trip, it elevates it.
If you’re looking for somewhere that captures the spirit of Gstaad while offering comfort, calm and exceptional service, this is very hard to beat.
