Dark Night for Men | The Fragrance We Need Right Now

Today I'm going to share some thoughts on my latest men's fragrance purchase, Dark Night by Solo Fragrances. According to the box it's "Their Impression of Calvin Klein Dark Obsession for Men." This may not be the fragrance that Gotham needs right now. (Ok that's the one and only gag I'll make about this, promise).
The Hype:
Dark Night for Men Impression Cologne is a bold and sophisticated fragrance for men. Dark Night for Men Impression Cologne will leave you feeling confident and powerful. It is a great way to make a statement and stand out from the crowd. The fragrance is long-lasting, so you can enjoy it all day long. Dark Night for Men Impression Cologne is a great value for the price.
The word on the street:
Very nice Cologne would definitely buy it again. It was affordable and it smells great. - Shop Bobbys
The Bottle:
Well it does exactly what it says on the tin. It's as black as night, It has a pronounced bulbous chest and tapers into a sort of squashed hexagon. The cap is plasticky, gimmicky, but proportional. It doesn't quite slide into place and skewers when it comes to rest.
The Opening:
It's very slow out of the traps. There is a delicate push of vanilla, aromatic, and woody notes, which have a subtle pull. Like a door ajar at the end of a cold hallway, the light emanating from the room is from the log fire, you can hear it crackling.
The Settledown:
After the vanilla there is a nudge of musky, powdery, amber. It feels slightly homogenous but not disingenuous. There are some berry notes, I'm getting blackcurrant. It transpires nicely from the sweet to the slightly sour.
The Drydown:
I return to the scent after 15 minutes and there is now a rich base of leather. It's not the best leather note you'll ever smell, but it's sandwiched perfectly between some spice and some musk. I want to say there is a dusting of rosemary in there and possibly some cardamom pods. It's not the best landing. Rather, it feels like it never landed at all. Moreover, it managed to get the parachute open, but soon lost direction and got blown into the trees.
Final thoughts:
Perhaps the biggest disappointment is that it had a vey secure start, and got rather lost in its own self-importance. It over shot its landing, it got a little cocky and perhaps this wasn't the fragrance that Gotham needed right now.
