Top 5 Men's Summer Shirts for 2023

I have been getting quite a few questions about my summer shirts that you may have seen on my Instagram channel of late. I've been lucky to explore some of the most gorgeous and romantic locations that money and frequent flyer mileage has to offer. From the Bahamas to Mauritius, life has been good to me these past few months.

Some of the questions I have been getting mainly are focused how do I get to do what you do you lucky git. To which I reply, you can't because you only post photos of your cat. But let’s focus on the main theme, the summer shirts that you should be rocking on your next trip abroad.

This Rustic Leaf Print camp collar Hawaiian shirt from All Saints is my go-to for walks along the beach, casual pool side drinks, or occasionally when I'm by the camp fire pretending to read Mr Porter. What give this shirt the edge is the tiger head that emerges from the leaf prints. Looks great also when blending in with shrubs and plant life.

Sticking with the camp collar theme this black and white striped linen viscose shirt from Zara. The important thing with all these shirts is how you tie them into your overall look. You'll notice that with all my summer shirts I take one colour from the shirt and match it with either my trousers or my hat. As this one has a little less fit, I wear it open intently, it gives me a chance to show off some jewellery. Notice monochrome look extends into the wall with my shadow? That is not an accident. Black and white works perfectly in the concrete jungle.

When wearing floral shirts on holiday, I like to give off the vibe that I'm not just on vacation here, I've been on vacation everywhere. So this All Saints Toulon Shirt is inspired by Japanese kimono prints, giving off a vibe that I'm not from round here, sure. But I'm also not locked in a 2 bed flat in Clapham Common for 11 months of the year. Not now the pandemics over anyway.

A great summer shirt will do one of two thing, show of your arm tattoos and create circulation so you don't sweat on the Hop on Hop Off bus. Fabrics like a good basket weave cotton or a linen shirt, or an open crochet shirt will do wonders to get those body fumes flowing. This ASOS short sleeve summer shirt has a bit of everything. Although don't stay in the sun too long as sections of your body will tan like a chessboard.

To finish why not go for a short sleeve shirt that screams I'm on holiday, having fun, I like a drink, but don't worry I'm not an Essex boy. Here is a loud coloured River Island short sleeve shirt designed in a crazy paving yellow and white style. You see how my crazy paving shirt design is matching the crazy paving pathway I'm walking on? That's not an accident.

TIP : The vest is much airier than a t-shirt and I love the lower crew neckline on vests. Layer a thin comfortable over-sized shirt over the top, leave the shirt open but tuck in the vest. Try to avoid heavy cotton shirts on holidays where it’s hot, I wear more linen or viscose on holiday. It’s a simple and effective style. Follow me on Instagram for more tips.
