Top 10 Women's Fragrances for Valentine’s Day 2023

OK chaps, I'm here and I've got your back. I must be getting a 1000 emails a day from guys asking what perfume can I get my girlfriend this Valentine's Day. Luckily I have a bathroom full of fragrances that Tuula steals on a regular basis so I don't feel like I have to splash out in this department this year.

But in case you're lady isn't keen on your Fahrenheit or Old Spice, then here is a list to get you started.

Viktor & Rolf - Flowerbomb

This top-rated fragrance from Viktor & Rolf is something from left field thanks to its floral notes of jasmine and rose, entwined with warm vanilla and grounded with patchouli. Currently on sale at Look Fantastic for £70.

Tom Ford - Tobacco Vanille

I described this on my blog back in 2018 as a thick and distinct, Madagascan Vanilla blends beautifully with wood-forward mahogany, its dark, rich, smoky glamour made all the more exotic with primal, musk-nuanced  The 50Ml and 100mL flacon has the sleek, architectural look of a chess piece. Yes it's not strictly a female's perfume, but it sure is sexy.

Carolina Herrera - Good Girl

Yes described as the ultimate femme fatale fragrance with sensual jasmine and the seductive tonka bean. It's so good to be bad. It lasts all day and guys go nuts for it. Trust me, I'm making up the numbers on this one.

Yves Saint Laurent - Libre

Yves Saint Laurent Libre is emblematic of all the character traits of the empowered woman. Charisma, sophisticated, tenacious etc.

The dusting of toasted sugar makes you sit upright. Available at John Lewis.

Chloe - Vanilla Planifolia

More vanilla over here please. Yes I'll take the one that sounds like a character from Avatar. Vanilla’s origins are extraordinary. And to explain it's provenance more eloquently let me quote you Janelle Okwodo from her round up of the 2022 best perfumes for women review

The planifolia orchid from which it is derived is a beautiful yellow and white flower, with a soft scent distinct from that of the plant’s pods. Perfumer Quentin Bisch would make the exquisite and enveloping Vanilla Planifolia for the Parisian fashion house, Chloe, and the rest is history. Exclusive to Selfridges.

LE LABO - Santal 33

I raved about this beauty back in April 2022 for my article on Top 5 Santal Fragrances. I didn't realise until recently that it was based on the memory of an old Marlboro advert, which really gives it a kick according to the Cosmopolitan listicle. That makes sense as I often think about Zod throwing Superman through a Marlboro truck when I smell this.

Creed - Love In White

You can find my best male Creed fragrances on the blog here. But if you're looking for the ideal Valentine's Day Fragrance for her, then Creed - Love In White is a truly unique floral that stands in class of its own. Its zesty, it has a smooth soft dry down and sits so close to the skin that you can't help be lured in. Available via Selfridges Online.

Marc Jacobs - Decadence

It's ironic that this is pitched to the powerful CEO type, as it reminds me of the team on The Apprentice that picked the name Decadence and was later informed what the name actually meant and were advised to change it. Still here we are. The fragrance stands on its own two feet and does exude confidence.  £89 100ml at Fragrance Direct

Gucci - Bloom

Classic floral pierces through with Gucci’s Bloom perfume. The mystery is in the rangoon creeper apparently. What's one of them eh? I hear you cry. Well it's a vine, a woody climbing liana with green to yellow-green, lance-shaped leaves. I know - Alexa is just the best right? £75 100ml from John Lewis

Diptyque - Eau Rose

This is a modern, bright take on classic floral fragrances. Puts you firmly in the mood for Spring and couldn't we all do with some optimism lately? It's got fruit, it's a winner for her this Valentine's Day. John Lewis doing it for £117 100ml
