NEW LA MER: THE RESURFACING TREATMENT

Today I want to wax lyrical about the NEW La Mer Resurfacing Treatment that was released earlier this month for (£110/€120). Available from 12th January exclusively at www.Selfridges.com and from 2nd February at all other doors.

This is the brands first multi-infusion exfoliating treatment formula that has replenishing marine enzyme ferment, resurfacing spheres, and renewing Miracle Broth™ – transforming the texture of your skin for long-lasting radiance. Sounds great eh? Are you also wondering like me whether La Mer is worth the price tag? It's always carried the torch for being a luxury skincare brand, the Rolex of one's grooming regime if you will. I have enjoyed reviewed and rhapsodized previously about the products of La Mer, so I was coming into this with review with a huge reservoir of affection.

But first a little about La Mer for the initiated. I pulled the best description not from the La Mer website, but from this wonderful article by Editorialist

This fabled cream was created in 1965 by Max Huber, an aerospace physicist who suffered severe burns on his face after a lab explosion. Desperate to find an ointment that would heal his skin, he took matters into his own hands and began his search near his home off the coast of San Diego. After 12 years and 6,000 iterations, he developed a cell-renewing elixir he coined Miracle Broth, otherwise known as La Mer.

This epic journey of scientific exploration might give you some mental steer on why it does come with a higher price tag than most products you'll find on the shelf. But just to drive the point home a little further I wanted to give you this insight by Lifestyle Asia as to why the price tag for La Mer products is justified.

There's sea kelp and a host of other pure ingredients that go into Miracle Broth and this cell-renewing elixir makes the skin radiant and clear while providing exceptional self-regenerating powers. Another reason the cream is expensive is how sustainably it's created

So is it the resurfacing treatment any good?

Boy I'm so glad to give this the thumbs up. They have yet to disappoint. After using their first multi-infusion treatment, my skin looks more radiant in just one use. This gentle, twice-daily exfoliating treatment continuously resurfaces skin to clarify and smooth, encouraging surface cell turnover. I really felt my pores shrink also, which I know is a common thread with their other products. I stumbled upon this opinion of the Crème de la Mer Nightly product by Gina Vaynstehn in Well and Good. Whilst she is describing another product in the La Mer range, I felt a correlation between her result and my own.

After a full week of using Crème de la Mer nightly, my skin, without a doubt, looked its best. I woke up on Day 7 and it appeared like I had already applied skin tint and some highlighter for a casual glow. My face was brighter, completely clear, more even, and my pores seemed tinier.

This gentle, twice-daily, multi-infusion exfoliating treatment with replenishing Miracle Broth™ continuously resurfaces skin to clarify and smooth as it balances and hydrates, encouraging natural cell turnover. Skin feels instantly smoother and looks noticeably clearer, and more radiant.
