The L'Homme A La Rose by Maison Francis Kurkdjian – Fragrance Review

Today I wanted to explore a new fragrance in my collection. The L'Homme A La Rose by Maison Francis Kurkdjian

This was a 2020 release that comes in the standard Maison Francis Kurkdjian presentation box. The bottle is clear and has a single rose stem. It's elegant, and leaves you in little doubt as to what to expect from the liquid contents. The cap is a steely grey square on round closure that clips on and off reassuringly.

It opens bright, with a strong refreshing push of sparkling grapefruit. It's not overly citrusy and it quickly segues into the two Rose Notes. These are later anchored by some earthy amber woods and essence of sage.

It's a very sophisticated scent. It's bright it's expressive. It's very linear which I like. I think for a Rose scent I'd prefer to have that straight shooter element as opposed to something more cryptic. It's not a black tie scent, despite one review giving it the 'from tee shirt to tuxedo' generic all-occasion accolade.

WHERE TO WEAR

This is more day-party, lunch meetings, first dates etc. I would certainly say it's an unchallenging scent. The TOM FORD Private Rose Garden has a lot more adventure and flamboyance. But that might not be for everyone. This has a more direct flourish. It certainly hangs around longer, on average 6-8 hours performance wise.

It's a bit sweet for my personal liking. This is not a mature scent. Although you won't be ex-communicated from any club for wearing this. I have had some compliments, but more quizzical ones. Like 'what is that?' Which is fine, because it's a non-offensive conversation stimulator.

I like it, I actually wear it to bed because Tuula loves it. She has started wearing it too, so I doubt this will last long before I will be sequestered to replenish.

SUMMARY

In summary this is a well-rounded, direct, fresh-floral fragrance that will marinade on your skin perfectly for Spring/Summer. However, it won't marinade in your mind because it's not the most memorable of scents.
