Harry’s have gone from Shaving into Skincare – are they any good?

Today I want to touch upon some of the new grooming products that I got sent by Harry's. I remember back in the day being invited to a launch of Harry's shaving blades. (I forget the venue but the beef wellington was unbelievable). The founders gave their speech and were amicable, friendly. Then came time to a video presentation and they had some tech difficulties, projector packed up or something. It felt like being back in secondary school watching Mr Peacock struggle with the VHS player for an entire hour of biology.

So they've come along way. The model of subscription blades was innovative and for any brand or company looking to corner a market you'll do worse than to look at the Harry's model. Get a good name, get a good domain, and start small. Get to know your space, your niche and slowly start branching out into nearby areas within your sphere. Hence I had no doubt that the brand would deliver on these skin care products. I'd already been sold on the idea of the razors, in fact the subscription service was a mini inspiration for me back in the day with my shirt subscription package over at Hawkins & Shepherd

But enough about me, first let me list you the products available which I would recommend buying as a bundle pack for just £42

You get a Face wash, face toner, face lotion, night lotion, eye cream and blemish treatment.

I think this is a perfect entry level gift set for anyone looking to get into grooming. I have pretty much cemented down my regime already with brands I'm fairly faithful to. Namely Perricone MD, Ole Henriksen, mixed in with a few others like Wake and Origins. You can find some recommendations in my Grooming section on the blog.

Ultimately the products all set out what they want to achieve. They do bring some freshness to your skin in the morning. They leave it looking refreshed and prevent pores getting clogged. There is some nice infused scents going on with the face scrub in particular. Think it was peppermint. All the products that should foam and lather, do. I would say the eye cream and blemish treatment aren't overly rich. Whilst not being greasy, they're also not the most penetrating of creams. That said these are entry level products, and for the price point, they are very good value.

The face lotion does contain SPF 15 and has a nice mint note, a couple of wins there.

Overall, and to summarise, anyone that's quite far down the line with their skin care regime will know there are more luxurious and better performing products on the market. If you can afford them then you won't be downgrading to Harry's Skin care products for any notable improvement. That said, if you're new to grooming, perhaps you want to introduce your son or a loved one into the world of skin care but don't want to spend a fortune, then this is a perfect touch stone to begin that journey. In short here are the ways to enjoy the products.

  • Includes your essentials for healthy skin

  • Prep for the day with Exfoliating Face Wash and a splash of Freshening Face Toner

  • Moisturise A.M. to P.M. with Daily Face Lotion and Hydrating Night Lotion

  • Tend to problem areas with Brightening Eye Cream and Targeted Blemish Treatment
