AllSaints Debuts First Fragrance Collection

Today I'm going to talk about the AllSaints first fragrance collection which I had the pleasure of sampling personally at one of their stores in London, Regent street (nearest tube Oxford Circus). I was also kindly gifted a beautiful tanned jacket which you can check out at the bottom of the article.

The three fragrances I'd like to mention from their debut unisex collection are Sunset Riot, Metal Wave and Incense City. The objective of the collection is to channel the contemporary fashion brand's independent attitude and spirit.

Let’s look at the collection individually.

SUNSET RIOT

Key notes: pink pepper, orange flower, cedarwood. I'll be honest I never really much of the pink pepper in the opening. It does have a citrusy push, which I'm guessing is the orange flower but it was hard to discern.

I did enjoy the freshness, the bright quality and I'm a huge fan of the price naturally. £49 for 100ml makes this a very accessible collection. I love the name, it sounds like an Artic Monkeys album.

The feedback I got on the day and confirmed through various forums that this isn't too dissimilar to Imaginary Authors St. Julep. I'm not overly familiar with that scent, although I've tried it I'll need to revisit it.

METAL WAVE

Key notes: juniper berry, magnolia, papyrus wood.

Again hard to really pick out those key notes from the blend, but it does have sweet opening. It does have a metallic vibe like the press release states 'rare combinations inspire an olfactory experience that is uniquely AllSaints.

It has shades of Gypsy Water by Byredo, but the sweet vanilla musk makes this quite derivative. Not in a bad way, but it is very familiar.

INCENSE CITY

Key notes: cypress, cedarwood and incense

This one is very easy to identify. It has a strong woody presence and the front notes of incense is hard  to miss. It's more of a dry woody feel than a smokey wood. Some people were asking on the day does this collection lean towards a masculine or feminine sensibility. I would say they sit very evenly in the middle. Although slightly more feminine if I were to be pushed.

FINAL THOUGHTS

A fantastic debut, incredibly well packaged and executed. It remains true to the brands identity and has a very accessible price point. A great gift for someone who is a fan of AllSaints.
