Flying South by FLORAÏKU Paris: Endless Summer in a Bottle

Some fragrances instantly transport you somewhere else. One spray and suddenly you’re no longer in the city, you’re somewhere warm, sunlit and slow-paced, where the days blur into golden evenings. Flying South by FLORAÏKU Paris does exactly that. Inspired by the feeling of an endless summer and the warmth of sun on skin, it’s one of the most uplifting and effortlessly beautiful fragrances I’ve tried this year.

I recently visited the FLORAÏKU Paris pop-up at Harrods, currently open in the main fragrance hall until 4th June, where I had the chance to properly experience the fragrance alongside the wider collection. The pop-up itself feels like stepping into the world of FLORAÏKU, artistic, calm, luxurious and deeply transportive.

And there’s also a great reason to visit. Anyone who scans the QR code at the pop-up is entered into a competition to win a full-size bottle of Flying South, and every entry also receives a complimentary 5ml fragrance while stocks last.

The Scent of Flying South

Key Notes: Makuwa Melon, Hibiscus, Musk

Flying South feels exactly like its inspiration suggests: warm air, glowing skin and summer stretching endlessly ahead.

The opening is centred around Makuwa melon, which gives the fragrance a watery, juicy brightness without becoming overly sweet. It feels refreshing and smooth rather than tropical in the obvious sense.

Then comes the soft floral warmth of hibiscus, adding a sunlit elegance to the composition. It brings a slightly creamy, almost glowing quality that makes the fragrance feel incredibly wearable.

Finally, the fragrance settles into soft musks, creating that addictive “warm skin” sensation FLORAÏKU does so beautifully. The dry-down feels intimate, airy and clean, like the lingering warmth after a day in the sun.

Why Flying South Stands Out

What I love most about Flying South is its restraint. It never tries too hard. Instead, it captures a mood perfectly. There’s a softness and fluidity to it that feels incredibly modern and luxurious.

This is not a loud summer fragrance. It’s refined, understated and quietly addictive. The kind of scent people notice when they’re close to you rather than across the room.

It also feels incredibly versatile. Perfect for holidays and warm weather obviously, but equally good in the city when you simply want something that lifts your mood.

Three Essential FLORAÏKU Fragrances to Discover

Spending time at the Harrods pop-up also reminded me just how strong the FLORAÏKU collection is overall. Alongside Flying South, these are three of the house’s most renowned and best-selling creations that deserve real attention:

1. Between Two Trees

One of the most sophisticated woody-aromatic fragrances in the collection. Grapefruit, mate absolute and vetiver create something green, smoky and deeply elegant. Perfect if you love modern woody fragrances with freshness and depth.

2. Sand and Skin

An incredible warm-weather scent built around vanilla absolute, benzoin and ylang-ylang. It smells like sun cream, warm sand and skin after a long beach day, comforting, sensual and beautifully soft.

3. One Umbrella for Two

Arguably one of FLORAÏKU’s most iconic fragrances. A unique blend of blackcurrant, tea and rice accord that somehow feels fruity, smoky and cosy all at once. Completely addictive and instantly recognisable.

Final Thoughts

Flying South feels like one of the standout summer fragrance launches of the year. It captures warmth, softness and freedom in an incredibly wearable way, while still carrying the artistic DNA that makes FLORAÏKU so special.

If you’re in London before 4th June, the Harrods pop-up is absolutely worth visiting, not just to discover Flying South, but to properly experience the world of FLORAÏKU Paris. And honestly, once you do, it’s very hard not to want to explore more from the collection.
