Zonzo - The Italian Stallion Tucked away on Edgware Road

It was hot as balls. Zonzo had good enough reviews, (Anastasia always checks the reviews beforehand). The restaurant was empty. The waiter told us he is from Persia and swiveled a floor fan around so Roger our Cockapoo could cool down.
The Hype:
Zonzo Restaurant is a unique combination of extraordinary Italian cuisine, beautiful décor and affordable prices. Established in 1992 has been providing quality Italian food firmly rooted in tradition. There’s a large wood-fired oven blazing away all night in the corner, where you can watch the pizza chef immaculately twirl his dough all evening.
Anastasia has the LINGUINE ALLA SCOGLIO. HOMEMADE THIN PASTA WITH MIXED SEAFOOD TOSSED WITH CHERRY TOMATOES, GARLIC AND WHITE WINE SAUCE.
I had the LASAGNE ZONZO, LAYERS OF FLAT PASTA WITH BEEF BOLOGNESE, TOMATO SAUCE AND MOZZARELLA BAKED IN OUR WOOD OVEN.
The word on the street:
The food here was absolutely spectacular, some of the best Italian I have eaten in a long time. Food came out quickly and was full of flavour and was delicious. The staff were delightful to be around, very friendly and made us very welcome. Fantastic evening out. - Trip Advisor Review
We took two Lemon Spritzers (Limoncello, Prosecco, Limonata) from the cocktail menu and got the £14 deal, although we had to correct the bill as the discount was not included. The waiter obliged without complaint.
He was a nice guy, spoke a bit of Russian, and was doing a long shift today. The chef is Italian, but we didn't see him. We didn't see anyone else there. The food was terrific and of great value. The only complaint really is the garlic bread seemed a little lacklustre. Not enough garlic and poor quality of bread. But the overall experience, the quality of the service and the value was top notch.
