Moncler Les Sommets | Fragrance Review

Moncler celebrates its alpine heritage with its new fragrance collection LES SOMMETS MONCLER. It's the first collection to come out of the Moncler stable since the release of their first-ever fragrances, Moncler Pour Femme and Moncler Pour Homme back in 2021. The collection is olfactory odyssey is comprised of five ultra-luxurious new unisex fragrances and is complemented by a range of olfactory essentials for the home, consisting of a home fragrance and a candle. The name of this new collection is LES SOMMETS MONCLER, and you know they mean business because it's all capitalised.

I really like what they have done with the bottles, reinterpreting the customary designs of traditional apothecary bottles and upgrading the cylindrical bottles from the last collection to the semi-transparent amber brown lacquer faceted glass vessels. It quite literally gives it an edge. All of the bottles are sealed with a glass cap in the same colour, embossed with a delicately finished graphic cut-out.

So what is the overriding theme of the collection? Good old fashioned wood. As George Harrison would say, isn't it good. All the eaux de parfums in this new collection are unique creations, developed around a common theme in connection with Moncler’s alpine roots: wood. The wood of the resinous trees which adorn the Alps, or even the comforting wood of the traditional chalets. The best kind of chalets by the way. Unlike the UK chalets you get on the north coast beach which are basically concrete prisons with a sandblast finish.

In a snowy white which highlights the clean, monochrome design, the name and the description of each fragrance are written directly on the bottle in French, - a nod to the brand’s origins - with the logo located at the bottom. But for your British viewing pleasure I have made the translations below.

LE BOIS GLACÉ UN VENT DE VÉTIVER EPICÉ - woody amber eau de parfum Le Bois Glacé puts a modern twist on Haitian Vetiver wood and its delicate smoky inflections, which ignite on contact with the dazzling freshness of the Calabrian Bergamot. A daring olfactory interpretation of the expression “Fire beneath the ice”. Perfumer: Fabrice Pellegrin.

A SPICED VETIVER BREEZE LES ROCHES NOIRES UNE LUEUR DE BOIS AMBRÉS - woody amber eau de parfum Like the crystal-clear light diffused from the pure moon glow shining on the dark, Les Roches Noires brings out the quintessence of Indonesian Patchouli. Warm and sensual, the amber notes of the Labdanum gently tame the wild and woody nature of the Patchouli. Perfumer: Nathalie Lorson.

A GLOW OF AMBER WOODS LE SOLSTICE UN SOUFFLE DE SANTAL IRISÉ - woody floral eau de parfum Le Solstice translates the fresh notes and powdery accords of Iris which wrap themselves in a creamy and comforting Sandalwood cocoon, just like in the comforting warmth of a mountain refuge. Perfumer: Daniela Andrier.

A BREATH OF IRIDESCENT SANDALWOOD HAUTE MONTAGNE UN ÉCLAT DE BOIS BLANCS - woody musky eau de parfum Haute Montage replicates the exhilarating energy of high-altitude blonde woods wrapped up in a warming blast of gourmet spiced Madagascar Vanilla. The simple thrill of majestic nature. Perfumer: Antoine Maisondieu.

A BURST OF WHITE WOODS LA CORDÉE A LA CIME DU CYPRES - woody citrus eau de parfum La Cordée explores the elegant verticals and keynotes of Cypress which mingle together with deeply addictive and sensual Black Tea leaves and a breath of invigorating Bergamot. Perfumers: Ane Ayo & Nathalie Lorson.
