Building a scent wardrobe on a budget: Hugo Boss Just Different

Continuing on with my series of building a scent wardrobe on a budget, I wanted to throw the Hugo Boss Just Different fragrance into the ring. It's now over ten years old and it's been awhile since I've bought a bottle (maybe even ten years), but I tend to think of this fragrance a lot. It's a very green fragrance with top notes of Mint and Granny Smith apple; middle notes are Basil, Freesia and Coriander; base notes are Cashmeran, Patchouli, Olibanum and Labdanum.

You probably won't find this as a go-to winter fragrance. It doesn't have the depth or the warmth that I gravitate towards in a winter scent. But it's definitely one to consider once we move into the Spring. It's great value, very youthful (maybe even too young for me sadly now). I would definitely use this as a scent to kick start your day if you're a young executive on the up and up. It has a good vibe, a reassuring feel, and it's a very safe fragrance to wear to the office. You won't have to worry about overwhelming your colleagues with this. For dates it's probably too safe. I would prefer to have something more adventurous than this. That said you might want to play it safe on a first date. 

It certainly won't cause any offence. Quite contrary to the name, it’s really not different enough to make you stand out.

When you're building a fragrance wardrobe from scratch, it's like building any wardrobe. You need the key staples. For me Hugo Boss Just Different lands perfectly into that office fragrance, where you'd like to be presentable, maybe impress people in close quarters, but not worry about projecting too much. 

The bottle is also quite handsome. They do good bottles Hugo Boss, my favourite is simply The Scent, which has cage like bars. That scent will be a decent graduation from this one, if your budget allows. For now, enjoy this one. It's a good price, it's good value and it's a light, playful, uplifting addition to your scent collection.
