3 Tips for Perfecting the Style That Is Totally You

While it goes without saying, or it should at least, there are times when you need to conform to dress codes, but most other times you can be who you want to be. You can express your individuality through style. If you are looking for ways to make your style a statement of who you are and what you are all about, it isn’t as difficult to do as you might think.

1. Start With Your Basic Personality

It will always show if you are uncomfortable in the clothes you are wearing so this is the place to begin. Are you an introvert or an extrovert by nature? Do flashy clothes with an excess of bling appeal to you? If you would rather not draw attention to yourself, you might prefer to wear clothes that blend into the scenery, so to speak, so you dress as modestly as possible. You know where you spend the majority of your time in a situation like that, so choose styles that are ‘you’ but not totally unlike what others around you are wearing.

2. If You’ve Got Something to Say – Say It!

This is perhaps the best way to perfect a style that is totally you. If you’ve got something to say, then say it! Companies like Screen Textiles can work with any designs and slogans you’ve created in order to print custom t-shirts that tell it how it is. Take, for example, all those t-shirts they advertise on social media that come quite close to how you are feeling?

They target you because of posts you’ve made but don’t quite hit the nail on the head. If you can say it better, just design your own graphic or slogan and have it printed for you! There is no mistaking a t-shirt that says I love my Bimmer. Anyone reading your t-shirt would know instinctively that you probably have at least one BMW and it’s probably a retro model. You might even use a photo of your car in the graphic you create. Now, as a BMW addict, that type of shirt says exactly who you are.

3. It’s Either You or It’s Not!

This is the very most important tip you can be given. Just because everyone in your close circle of friends prefers the latest fashion trends being worn by their favourite celebrities or athletes doesn’t mean that you need to dress the same. If you are not comfortable in Nike athletic shoes then wear Reebok!

All your friends may be wearing those long pea coats circa 1957 as seen on detectives in an adaptation of Agatha Christie’s Witness for the Prosecution. However, you can’t abide those long to-the-knee coats. So, wear something closer to your liking. You can’t very well perfect your own style if you are conforming to what all your mates are wearing. It just can’t happen! In the end, it’s either you or it’s not. You can’t have it both ways.
