NEW Fragrance from Barbour For Him + For Her

NEW Fragrance from Barbour For Him + For Her

Today I'm going to talk about a couple of his and her fragrances I was kindly sent on by the team at Barbour. First thing to note is how different the bottles are compared to everything else on my shelve currently. In fact, it's a bottle designed more for the inside pocket of your Beacon Heritage Sports coat than it is for your bathroom or night stand. Each stylish glass flask shaped bottle is overlaid with a signature wax finish and features a bold contrast tartan trim to reflect Barbour's Scottish roots. Designed with an attention to detail, the cap is engraved with the Barbour logo on the top and embellished with a leather strip for an extra touch of elegant simplicity.

For Him

The Barbour For Him fragrance contains a blend of woody notes of cedar, guaiac wood and vetiver, mixed with amber and musk for depth and warmth and topped with a sharp citrus top enhanced by a spicy heart of cardamom baies roses and black pepper.

The woody textures certainly place this firmly within the outdoorsy fragrance bracket. In fact, I've been enjoying wearing it around Clapham Common whilst cradling my new baby boy Chips (puppy). On the opening I got more involved with the citrus note, before slowly unwinding the woody textures and spicy peppers. A couple of spray in front of the desk, I close my eyes. I'm in Primary School, venturing to the bottom of the hill to fetch the ball back. At the bottom of the hill is an oak plantation, and a hornbeam dominated woodland of sycamore, pines, willow and birch.

The ball has gone into the woods. I can hear the cries from the hill telling me to hurry up and bring the ball back. But I'm too cowardly to explore. The woods had no history of ghosts, no witches. No convicted criminals took refuge there. I just had an overactive imagination and thought if I went too far in, I'd never make it out. Instead of searching for the ball, I just ran around the hill and out the front gate and all the way home. It seemed like a perfectly logical get out. The kids wouldn't laugh at me for being afraid, and the woods wouldn't swallow me with their roots that of course, looked like tentacles to an 8 year old Carl.

I open my eyes, and ruminated on that strange thought destination the woody notes transport me to. It's nostalgia. It's warm, it has danger and mystique. For a woody fragrance it doesn't deliver on the amber-y follow-throughs that the Bvlgari Man Terrae Essence does, nor does ask as many questions as a Tom Ford Ombre Leather. But it's perfectly functional as a backup or a more accessibly priced inoffensive Autumn/Winter fragrance.

For Her

The Barbour For Her fragrance is an homage to the British meadows. Crafted from a jasmine and tuberose floral heart, the fragrance is grounded by a gourmand tonka and orris base. At the top a blend of citrus and green notes infuses the perfume with a refreshing sense of calm energy.

The fragrances are available in bottles of 100ml (£69) for daily use and 50ml (£49) for practicality and are all engineered to be refillable. The Barbour For Him and For Her Fragrances collection is available on their website now
