When you’re looking for a new fragrance, what is most important to you? The actual scent of the fragrance? The bottle design? The price? The longevity of the fragrance on your skin? For me, it is all of those things. Something that ticks all the boxes, not only does a fragrance have to smell great, it has to fit in to my home interiors and be at a level in which I can afford.

This new launch of Bad Boy by Carolina Herrera is exactly that. It’s an innovative and explosive new masculine Eau de Toilette. A powerful and sophisticated scent for unique and irreverent men who dare to embrace all of the facets of contemporary manhood. Bad Boy celebrates new masculinity: multifaceted and surprising. Men are pure duality: strong and sensitive; powerful and empathetic; heroic and vulnerable. Bad Boy is a tribute to empowered men who dare to follow their own path and who are not afraid to express and share their feelings.

“I have been thinking about this project for a while: I wanted to design a fragrance that would capture new masculinity. The idea was to craft an exquisite perfume, based on a groundbreaking formula, built around contrast and rich ingredients. It had to be contained in an impressive flacon which would feature an iconic symbol. The image had to be not only creative but also committed”, says Carolina Herrera de Baez, creative director of fragrances at Carolina Herrera.

What is the Difference between a Cologne, Eau de Toilette and Parfum?

One question I got asked recently is what is the difference between Cologne, Eau de Toilette, Eau de Parfum etc. Well it comes down to the percentage of “fragrance oils” that go into a finished product. So when you’re designing a fragrance, you create the oil which has a mixture of essential oils and synthetics (depending on the notes you wish to use) this is basically a non-diluted version of your fragrance. Those oils then get mixed with alcohol to create the finished product. Cologne is typically the weakest with only 2-4% of the fragrance oils making up the finished product, next is Eau de Toilette at about 4-8%, then it’s Eau de Parfum at approx 15% then finally Parfum at anything from 15-25%.

What notes are in Bad Boy by Carolina Herrera?

The luminosity of Sage, Black and White Pepper and Bergamot intertwines with the sensual darkness of Tonka Bean, Cacao and Ambar Wood. At the top notes of this Oriental Aromatic, the spicy freshness of Red and White Pepper is merged with the citric vibrancy of Italian Green Bergamot. This magnetic and elegant union shows its true power at the heart of the fragrance, where the Cedarwood is heightened by the bright nuances of Sage. The secret of the Bad Boy aroma lies at its bottom notes, where Tonka Beans and Absolut of Cocoa blend, creating a revolutionary fragrance. The result is an artisanal masculine scent with a striking gourmand sensual float.
