'Don't be a famine thinker. There's enough to go around'. - Joe Rogan

Have you noticed everyone has a podcast now. You might be thinking is it too late for me to start one? Hell no. Yes Joe Rogan has been going for years, one of the early adopters. But he's right in one he is saying, there truly is enough to go around.

Joe Rogan announced that he will be moving his podcast over exclusively to Spotify in September in a 100 million pound deal. No more iTunes, no more Stitcher. What an absolute dream contract. The visual will be transferred from YouTube also by the end of the year.

Here's why you should set up a podcast for your business

According to Edison Research, the number of Americans listening to a podcast each week has grown 120% over the past four years, and 90 million Americans listen to a podcast every month.

How do I get more traffic to my Video podcast?

So you're thinking of getting your podcast visual. One option is to make your Video Podcast platform agnostic. Publish the same content on YouTube as you would on Facebook, LinkedIn, IGTV, etc. Make sure your branding is consistent, perhaps change up your intros & outros and then funnel in an omni channel way.

The Joe Rogan formula is to record the podcast and then publish the long form to YouTube. Rogan then has a separate YouTube channel for short clips where people can get the highlight reel.

Those buzz-worthy clips gets millions of views alone.

The best gear for video podcasting

You can really take a deep dive into this. I'd recommend looking at Think Media on YouTube and checking out their tutorials. The best Vlog that will help you to find the best gear for Video Podcasting can be found here

Tools handy for podcasters

Google Calendar, Podio Project Management Software, Screenflow, Skype, Ecamm Call Recorder, Libysn and WordPress, otranscribe, Garageband, Zoom.

How can you be a good host

Do your research on a guest. A great way of doing this is setting yourself an hour before you hit record. Go through their Insta stories, find out what is recent and relevant. Hit up their LinkedIn profile and look at their CV.

You might have gone to the same University, you may like a company they've worked for in the past. All these are great conversation stimulators and your guest will appreciate you've endeavoured to find out interesting stuff about them.

Before you start your podcast - realise these three things.

You have to semi interesting, you have to be semi smart, and you have to be semi funny. Wait, that's 3 semi's? That's not mathematically possible but you know what I mean. Make sure you're well read on daily topics. If you want to be a podcaster you'll need to think on your feet.

Read the daily news, strike off an opinion or a fresh take. Don't just reel off what everyone else is saying in the comment section of the daily mail. People will come to you because of your original take on things.

Please don't do this - advice from a fellow podcaster

Pete Brooker, host of From Tailors With Love - 'Don't start a podcast and make the proclamation that you're just going to talk sh*t. No one wants to listen to that. Even your drunk buddies won't be listening. They'll also be too drunk to remember to show up to record.'

For me personally, Personally for me

I'm green to podcasting, my main channel will always be YouTube, but I'll soon be branching out in Video Podcasting because it's the north star for content creators.
