Outdoor Kitchen Design & Product Ideas

Ever since watching Guy Ritchie cook a BBQ for his cast on set for his new movie Operation Fortune, I've been enamoured with the idea of having an outdoor kitchen. Yes we only have about one month of decent weather every year here in the UK, but there are always outdoor heat lamps and picnic umbrellas one can install to make the outdoor kitchen an all-weather experience. Whilst doing my research and getting some design ideas together, I hit upon some common denominators.

1. Rustic Charm

(Sounds like an old fragrance from Fahrenheit that your Dad would wear on special occasions, and boy did everyone know about it). Create a cozy and inviting outdoor kitchen with natural materials like stone or wood. Incorporate a built-in grill, a stone oven, and a farmhouse-style dining area for a rustic feel.

2. Modern Elegance:

(Sounds like a name Dulux give their white paint to distract you from the undeniable truth that it really is just white paint). Opt for sleek and clean lines with a contemporary outdoor kitchen. Use stainless steel appliances, minimalist design elements, and a sleek countertop for a modern and sophisticated look.

3. Tropical Paradise:

(Sounds like a shower gel that you can get from Lidl for 99p). Design an outdoor kitchen with a tropical theme. Use bamboo or thatched roofs for covering, install a tiki bar, and incorporate colourful tiles or mosaic patterns to create a vibrant and relaxing space.

4. Mediterranean Retreat:

(Sounds like a nail spa on Chiswick High Road. Although it sounds exotic, its wedged between the Vape Shop and Ron's Fish & Chips). Bring the Mediterranean ambiance to your outdoor kitchen. Use warm colours, clay tiles, and wrought iron accents. Add a wood-fired pizza oven, a vine-covered pergola, and comfortable seating to complete the Mediterranean feel.

5. Industrial Chic:

(Oh sounds like a collection of gowns Richard O'Brien released in collaboration with New and Lingwood back in the day that didn't sell). Embrace an industrial-inspired outdoor kitchen design. Incorporate concrete countertops, exposed brick walls, and stainless steel appliances. Combine it with modern furniture and lighting fixtures for a trendy urban look.
