6 of the BEST Summer Cocktails to try

Now summer is here you don't fancy a Guinness but don't feel comfortable ordering Slippery Nipples, then it's time to bone up (unfortunate choice of words I know) on some Summer Cocktails. Use this blog as a cheat sheet when you're at the bar and have a couple memorised to impress anyone in earshot.

I would very much recommend getting a Cocktail Shaker and a basic guide to making cocktails for your garden parties. Perhaps you might know a mixologist or a decent barman that might want to come round and help out for a few hours?

Peroni Fiore Spritz

Ingredients
1.5 oz Bitter Italian Aperitif
.5 oz Elderflower Liqueur
2 oz Club Soda
5 oz Peroni

Thoughts: I know this sounds slightly loop this one, but as recommended by the Town & Country, this cocktail looks really refreshing. Partly because it has beer in it. When you're at the bar you're always wanting both a beer and a cocktail, so now this ticks all those boxes right?

Limoncello spritz

Thoughts: Add Prosecco, limoncello and soda water into a large, ice-filled wine glass and stir. Nothing better than saying the word limoncello, possibly the best sounding word in any language. As recommended by the girls on ITV This Morning

Hugo Spritz

Thoughts: The most trendiest of summer cocktails according to Delish is a cocktail made with St. Germain: the Hugo Spritz. Google Trends reports that the beverage has had a 500 percent jump in search volume, and continues to increase as summer approaches.

Espresso Tonic Takeover

Thoughts: According to ABC News this is the cocktail that's getting people out of bed in the morning. Although not a great indictment of our current society that we get out of bed for cocktails, but hey.

While this Scandinavian-in-origin coffee drink isn't necessarily new, it's been bubbling up in popularity recently from Food & Wine to TikTok, where the term has over 3.7 billion video views.

Frozen Watermelon Margaritas

Thoughts: How about this from The Home Cocktail Club? Frozen Watermelon Margaritas. And now finally we can do something with that huge un-fridge-able Watermelon that some crazy chick turned up to your BBQ with. We all think we're in Dirty Dancing right?

  • 2 shots (50ml) x Tequila

  • 1 shot (25ml) x Lime Juice

  • 1 shot (25ml) x Triple Sec

  • Handful of chopped Watermelon segments

  • Salt, Watermelon & Lime Wedges to garnish

Blueberry Lemon Ginger Fizz

Thoughts: Loving this suggestion from Brit.CO. Before you make these delicious drinks, freeze some lemon, blueberry, and mint to make some fruity ice cubes. Blueberry's also the best fruit for brain power, apparently. While you can add water, you can also opt for the ginger beer or vodka to keep the drink less watery.
