ALL 4 TUMI FRAGRANCES | RANKED BEST TO WORST

Today I'm going to give you a brief overview of the four fragrances by TUMI; Awaken, Continuum, Unwind and Atlas. Unwind and Awaken were released in 2020, Continuum the following year and now we have Atlas to complete the quad.

As you can see the bottles look to make a statement. Very black, very rugged with a touch of futurism about them. These are masculine fragrances, designed specifically with men in mind. Although one does lean to the unisex and I'll tell you which one and why, in the brief summary of each below.

AWAKEN

I have to say that this was not a fragrance that pulled out many trees for me. It has a very generic spicy afterglow to this one, and it feels like I've sampled this in so many other designer fragrances before.

I would rank this at the bottom of the pack for TUMI fragrances. Although it's not without merit. There is a lot of freshness to this scent, it's mostly citrus and spicy notes that give off an aromatic flavour. It wouldn't be a terrible gift for someone that doesn't know too much about fragrances, but likes to wear them. There is a light smokiness to this, but overall a very linear and all too obvious fragrance for my taste.

CONTINUUM

This one for me was the best of the bunch, and by a fair stretch. As I teased earlier, this one can be worn by women also. In fact, Tuula is a great case study. The others she wouldn't wear, this one she is quite happy to steal. That's largely down to the warm creamy wood notes. It reminds me of a barber shop fragrance that I won't compare here, let’s give TUMI the full focus. But there is a slight 'pub quality' to this, for want of a better expression. Old school pubs with sweet cigar overtones, that liquor on the breath type giveaway. It's very Winterwear, it's got so much more depth than the others. I love this and I would buy it in a heartbeat.

UNWIND

Typically to be worn in the evening during the wind down, feet up, burn zero calories mode. For me this has some much nicer qualities than AWAKEN, with the ginger and the sage. Those notes are very prominent and play together nicely. It has some Oud which is not overwhelming and it does sit well on the skin when I want to relax. I could wear this out of the house, to walk Charlie and Chips or to a friends house. It's nice enough to have on when I want to smell nice but not distracting.

ATLAS

I wish I could save the best 'til last. But this being the latest offering from TUMI, ATLAS has its moments but not nearly enough of them. I was hoping for something to come close to CONTINUUM but this fell short. It has more going on than the other two, so it comes in second place - but by some distance.

There is some nice minty-ness to this. That's the geranium coming into play. It's got some Rose notes and some very interesting sandal woodiness that follows through, but it's a little too ethereal for me. There was nothing that anchored and I never felt that it quite new how to find its feet.

That said, it's at least braver in terms of experience than the UNWIND and AWAKEN, and it's an enjoyable scent. But the guys at TUMI have set the bar with CONTINUUM, and we need to get back to that level playing field.
