Where to buy Office wear clothing in 2022?

Today I'm going to share some thoughts and research on a discussion I recently had with some friends on where to buy office wear clothing in 2022. I'm old enough to have the halcyon memories of wearing a suit and tie to the office. In fact the only thing I truly miss from my days in I.T, was the promiscuous buttoned-up approach I had to office wear. Indeed it was this fervent pursuit to find quality shirts that led me to start my own shirt company, Hawkins & Shepherd.

Now in the waking dawn of casualisation and work from home hybrid models, we are no longer wedded to the idea that one needs to wear his Sunday best to the office. In fact as we look at the power shift between employee and employer, I think it's safe to say that your boss is just happy you're turning up to the office at all.

That in mind let me list some viable brands that I believe to be the doyens of smart casual, perfect clothiers for officer wear in 2022.

David Gandy Wellwear

Back in 2021 I wrote an article discussing the launch of David Gandy's Wellwear collection. David Gandy Wellwear is a concept bringing apparel and wellbeing together in a lifestyle brand that fuses fashion, function and feeling. Inspired by the supermodel’s 20 years of industry experience and based on the scientific benefits of wearing soft, comfortable clothing, the 20-piece debut collection offers a definitive range of essentials that puts the emotional wellbeing of its customer at its very heart.

I've highlighted the Short Sleeve Sweat Polo in Black. Pair this with the black loopback jogger and you'll fit right in to that studied smart/casual look. Especially if you're in the creative industry.

TM Lewin

As some of you may have noticed if you've been following my Instagram channel, I've teamed up with TM Lewin for a campaign entitled ‘Be the business anywhere’. Employees out there that I’ve spoken to are struggling with what to wear for work because their traditional office attire has changed due to working in different locations throughout the week. One day they are at home but could be on a Zoom call within a moment’s notice. The next they’re working from a coffee shop, jumping between meetings. Then for a few days they are in their traditional office. It’s quite difficult to dress for all occasions without having to expand your wardrobe extensively.

Now TM Lewin have created a new versatile collection using premium super-soft fabrics that you can feel comfortable wearing anywhere. At home, in a coffee shop, the office or during travel. These are pieces of clothing that you would be proud to wear out after work in a cocktail bar or restaurant.

Sunspel

To me Sunspel have always been about comfort. Perhaps pre-pandemic it might not have been suitable to wear Sea Island Cotton polo shirts at work. They would be more befitting a breakfast bar on the coast of Jamaica. However, they have extended their range from the shirt, to the sweatshirt and now even inclusive in their Riviera range.

I'm still going to harken back to the long sleeve sea island cotton shirt, which will not only be more breathable, luxurious, but a clubbable shirt for any meeting with your peers.

Hemingsworth

I was first made aware of Hemingsworth after stumbling across Pete Brooker's review on their seersucker shorts on his channel, From Tailors With Love. They have since graduated to becoming one the fine bastions for smart/casual garments all made in England. I'm going to highlight this Navy Twill travel jacket. Perfect for those meetings where you have to suffer a long commute or flight.

Hawkins & Shepherd

Oh who left that name in there? Surely not. Well yes, I wouldn't recommend if I didn't believe it to be true. After all, as previously mentioned, the kernel for my brand Hawkins & Shepherd was to make clothes that I would want to wear to the office. From pin collar shirts to check shirts, with tab collars, point collars, button-down collars you name it. These shirts are all made to my own personal scrupulous standards.
