Getting a Barista Coffee at Home | The Barista Touch by Sage Appliances

Today I'm going to talk about the ultimate Sage Appliance; The Barista Touch, the ultimate in homeware devices. And what better time to invest in a coffee machine? With the abrupt abeyance of social distancing you'll be hard pressed to get that barista coffee flavour elsewhere.

Sage deliver award winning kitchen appliances designed to inspire people to produce perfect food and beverage results in their own homes with ease. You might remember me wax lyrical about their Bluicer, the mother of all life hacks. You can read that article here.

If like me you have a bibulous affair with coffee then a decent barista coffee machine will be the Excalibur of your kitchen devices. Each time you power one on it should evoke nostalgic cries of He-Man crying with tonic enthusiasm 'I have the Power!'.

What's so special about The Barista Touch

Barista-quality performance with new intuitive touch screen display with pre-programmed café drinks menu and automatic milk texturing.

You can easily adjust the coffee strength, milk texture and temperature to suit your taste. Then save it with your own unique name. Create and save up to 6 personalised coffees. So far I've customised six different blends, varying in flavour.

  1. The Monday Almighty

  2. I've Got You Babe

  3. The Apex Predator

  4. I Can't Live if Living is Without You

  5. Break on Through

  6. Keep Punchin' Apollo

A built-in grinder delivers the right amount of ground coffee on demand and with a 3 second heat up time, you go from bean to cup, faster than ever before. Innovative ThermoJet™ heating system achieves the optimum extraction temperature in 3 seconds. Ready to make your best coffee without the wait and avoiding the hoopla of boiling kettles and loitering around flashing 'wait for it' LED's.

Auto steam wand, allows you to adjust the milk temperature and texture to suit your taste. Delivering barista quality micro-foam that enhances the flavour of the coffee and is essential for creating latté art. If you’re interested in watching my first attempts at latté art then I conveniently embedded it below!

The Numbers Game

Here are some numbers and facts for you to wow your local barista!

- 22g coffee (the ideal amount of ground coffee)
- 93°C (the ideal water temperature set by the Digital Temperature Control PID)
- 9 bar (the ideal pressure)
- 130 °C (the ideal steam pressure to achieve perfect micro-foam milk)

I'll be frank. This Barista Touch easily outstrips anything I've ever had before in way of coffee machines. I'm truly enamoured with this, the progenitor of my work-from-home day. My only sadness, in the advent of social distancing, is my inability to share the supernova-esque wonderment of this Barista Touch and the fruit of its treasures.

With this, the Bluicer, the 55 inch tele, my pad is a pretty good place for people to hang right now. If I have to suffer the benefits of such riches on my own, then so be it. However, when the time comes for all of us to leave our avatars and mingle like Pringles once more, I might not want to leave.

Sage is proud to support local independent coffee suppliers so here are my favourite 3 whole bean coffee products right now.

Caravan The Daily Blend: Dark chocolate, nutmeg, caramelised plum.
Caravan The Market Blend: Raspberry, cherry jam, milk chocolate.
Caravan The Mario Hervas Blend: Bergamot, red apple, butterscotch.
