Introducing Saunders & Long | Men's Grooming Essentials

Today I'm going to be talking about my experience using some of the grooming products offered by Saunders & Long - the London born premium skin and hair care brand.

Saunders & Long is the brainchild of British duo - hair stylist and owner of Lockonego salon Jonny Long and business partner, creative film producer Nick Saunders. It's also a culmination of like-minded captains of industry such as Steve Musumeci, previously chief chemist at Kiehl’s, Klaus Heidegger, former Co-President of Kiehl’s, photographer Greg Williams and model Johannes Huebl.

Today, perhaps for obvious reasons I'll be focusing on the capsule skincare range as opposed to the haircare range.

Hero products in the range include:

Saunders & Long - The Long Weekender - £26 for 250ml

A 5-1 industry first, The Long Weekender is a grooming all-rounder that combines convenience and efficacy.  The five key elements - shampoo, conditioner, bodywash, shaving cream and hair grooming cream have been individually formulated in a five stage sequential process to create a multi-functional product, resulting in a product that’s perfect for travelling and the gym bag.

I've been utilising this in the shower and have enjoyed the practicality and ease. With its multi-functionality it reminds of me of something that the inventor Dad in Gremlins would show to his son Billy. (The Bathroom Buddy. I know, deep pull). It's a sleek looking bottle with an easy action pump dispenser. I imagine for those non-follicle-y changed men this would make life easier having a one-stop shop for shampoo, conditioner, bodywash, shaving cream and hair grooming cream. (Although I only used it for the bodywash).

It's enriched with Pro Vitamin B5, humectant polymers condition the hair and body, locking in moisture and removing oil. A soft shaving foam is created by applying the product in circular movements to the skin. Special barrier polymers create a protective layer, leaving skin soft and reducing the risk of irritation.

Saunders & Long - Facial Moisturiser - £22 for 15ml/£56 for 50ml

Another good thing about the Saunders & Long grooming range is that all the products have a very accessible price point. Clinically formulated to mimic the skin’s own natural sebum, the Facial Moisturiser is laden with antioxidants and ensures a cumulative effect on the skin that improves texture and health with use.

For those that have dry skin the moisturiser applies evenly and doesn't leave any residue in stubble. It doesn't just gloss over the skin in a greasy fashion like so many other men’s moisturisers are guilty of.

Thanks to active ingredients lab-formulated in Japan, the epidermal layer is penetrated and moisture is retained (i..e “the reservoir effect), nourishing living cells. Niacinamide (Pro Vitamin B3) protects the skin and helps retain moisturiser.

Saunders & Long - Eye Cream - £52 for 15ml

Some folk are of the opinion that eye creams aren’t a skincare necessity. These are the 'flat-earthers' of the grooming world. Our thinnest layer of skin on the body resides the under eye, and after years of development, Steve Musumeci and has mastered a formula which masters function and aesthetic.

The Saunders & Long Eye Cream contains Lecithin which holds moisture in the delicate area, helping reduce the appearance of fine lines.
Oligopeptides promote collagen and encourage skin resilience and Vitamin A helps reduce UV damage whilst Vitamin C helps firm the skin.

Lastly

I've also enjoyed seeing the foaming cleanser on my bathroom shelf. The cleanser foams up nicely and the bottle stand imperious next to my girlfriends assortment of creams, lotions and potions.
